Recording Priority says "No upcoming Airings" on tv shows

Using a movie will not test anything in this case. You recorded the movie so it is in your library which is why the “no upcoming airings” is displayed. Plex is working exactly as it should, it already exists in your library so it is not going to record it a second time unless the second airing is a higher resolution and you have specified in the advanced settings to replace with higher resolution recordings.

No, that’s not what I’m seeing. In this case, the scheduled recording changed from showing the correct airing time, to “no upcoming airings” prior to the airing time.

Deleting the recording and scheduling it again seemed to work, but it shouldn’t happen in the first place. Plex seems to drop recording schedules intermittently, forcing them to be rescheduled.

I’ve missed a few recordings because of this issue.

By the way, I notice this threadnhas been marked as answered but it’s not.

mods, can you please unmark. Ta

You would need to provide logs showing the time when Plex dropped a recording right before the scheduled air time. The last set of screenshots you provided showed scheduled recordings for later that night or the next day. The prior set of screenshots showed the Recording for a Simpsons episode at 24% recorded with the Recording Priority showing No Upcoming Airings. The Recording Priority is looking at shows coming up in the future, if a recording for the show is currently recording it is obviously now past the current scheduled air time of that recording. For example on the Simpsons recording, if it started at 1:00 and is now 24% done recording the time would now be around 1:07 since Simpsons is a 30 minute show. There is no recording for that episode that starts after the current time of 1:07.

The thread shows as answered because there are answers posted to the thread. It does not show with the indicator that there is an accepted answer.

Cool, thanks. I`ve attached logs, I think the recording (Theres something about Mary, scheduled to records on Channel 5 (Freeview 105) , Saturday 17th 22:30) got dropped on Thursday 15th (2 days before scheduled recording time) , but cant remember the exact timing. Anyway, after it was dropped, I cancelled and then rescheduled the recording.
Cheers.

So, the recording “Theres something about Mary” failed, along with another scheduled recording. Should have recorded two movies last night, nothing recorded, nothing in films or recorded TV. Both failed recording shows “no upcoming airings”. Logs attached.

Logs here for above post

Nothing in logs covering time of recordings. Logs start at 12:42 today and are filled with entries with what I assume is you adding a bunch of pictures to your server:

I see from the screenshot that there are several recordings from last night that still appear to be recording. I see you are on an older version of Plex Media Server. I would recommend updating to the latest Plex Pass version as there have been numerous DVR/Transcoder updates since the version you are currently running. Current Plex Pass version is 1.11.3.4803.

Thanks. Ive updated to Version 1.11.3.4803 and ill continue to test.

The entries you cite are simply re-scans of the media library, not new pictures. If there are any changes I can make to make the logging more relevant, then let me know.

Let’s see how the latest version works. There is a LogNumFiles setting that can be changed/added to increase the number of log files kept by Plex. The default is 5 so Plex keeps the previous 5 log files in addition to the current log. The option is discussed in the Plex Advanced, Hidden Server Settings page. If you need to change this setting I would suggest a server restart after changing the setting.

Ive done some more recordings and so far, so good. Ive scheduled some more and we`ll see how it goes. Hopefully this issue has been resolved by the patch.
