I have been trying to overcome the problem of not having direct access to the server, by enabling insecure access. This seems to work.
Each time I open however I now get a message that secure connections are not permitted, do I want to enable them once or always? I select always but each time I open Plex the same message appears. Enabling gives access to the home page of the server which is otherwise inaccessible.
Are secure an insecure mutually exclusive? I still don’t understand the underlying cause of the failure to get direct access.
Your web browser is throwing away the cookies from plex.tv. So all the Plex web app’s settings are reset as soon as you close it. Search for a way to create an exemption for the domain plex.tv in your browser’s menu, so the settings are retained.
Depending on the browser, you may have to install a browser add-on to achieve this.
Your router has some problematic settings, which interfere with how Plex has implemented secure connections. If you’re lucky (some router don’t allow the necessary adjustments), you can mitigate the whole issue there. PMS using wrong IP
