Occasionally I have noticed that Plex is naming movies by their US title, instead of the one they are known by in the UK, e.g. Zootropolis (UK) is Zootopia (US).
When I uploaded the file I named it as “Zootropolis (2016).mp4”, hoping this would pick up the UK title, however Plex still displays it as “Zootopia” in the film index. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2948356/
Is there any way for plex to automatically pick up regional titles like this, or is it just down to manually editing the meta data after it is uploaded?
Unfortunately, the Plex metadata agents don’t distinguish between English (US) and English (UK).
So you will always get the “international” or “US” version of movie titles.
What you could do is to embed the correct version of the title into your files, into the ‘title’ meta tag.
By default, Plex gives these embedded meta tags priority over the online metadata sources.
Thanks - there aren’t many of them, so it’s probably easier for me just to edit the metadata once it’s been indexed in Plex. I just wasn’t sure if I was doing something else wrong - or had forgotten to tick the “UK” check box somewhere
There is a ‘Country’ dropdown selector in the properties of the ‘Plex Movie’ agent. Unfortunately, it only influences fetching of release dates and age certifications but not the title.
