[RELEASE] OpenPHT 1.6.2

This is awesome, thanks openpht 1.6.2.
I respect plex media player’s new cleaner programming, however the graphical user interface in openpht is the best. It’s what users are expecting. Maybe someday we can combine the two.

Both. Certainly not uncompressed 4k Blu-Ray. Approximately 4GB file size for 1.5 hour movie. The seek works well but it has a huge lag meaning that it is a 1/4 second press length difference between +5 minutes and +50 minutes. Clearly I am the only one who has this problem…

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “press length”, but I think this problem might just be due to a misunderstanding of how the controls are intended to work. There is to my knowledge NO code in OpenPHT for sensing the length of time you press any keyboard key. Such timing is handled entirely by the operating system, which for a long keypress will send several individual keycodes to the application, so OpenPHT will see this as several separate but quickly repeated keypresses.

In recent OpenPHT versions quickly repeated step commands (== D-pad right/left arrows) lead to increasingly large steps for each keypress, as opposed to the standard steps taken when pressing the keys with longer intervals (I’m not sure but I think the limit is at 750ms). So long-pressing a key with normal auto-repeat action by the OS will lead to an accelerating seek speed, and the rate of acceleration will depend on the auto-repeat settings/defaults of the OS. An OS that repeats keys very quickly may make this stepping method impractical (as seems to be the case with your Chromebox).

There is a feature allowing the user to edit an XML file to control this stepping, which can restore the original non-accelerated 30 sec seek steps. But personally I prefer to handle long jumps by using D-pad up/down arrows for 10 min steps followed by short-pressing right-left arrows to fine-tune the position.

Finally the most precise position stepping is achieved simply by entering the precise time-point you want to jump to on your keyboard and end by pressing enter or right/left arrows.
Some examples:
1234 Enter => jumps to time position 12:34 from the video’s beginning (regardless of where you were before)
55 Right-Arrow => jumps forward 55 seconds from current position.
12345 Left-Arrow => jumps back 1 hour 23 minutes and 45 seconds from current position.

I hope you find this information useful.

Maybe someone in here can help, the Ask a Question button is hidden/broken right now so I can’t post in the Skinning area.

I am making a theme for a skin and the Skin.HasTheme option appears to not be working at all.

I started simple, I made my .xbt file, the images all load with the theme but I can’t make XML changes work. Here is the simple code I tried:

	<control type="image">
			<posx>0</posx>
			<posy>58</posy>
			<width>100</width>
			<height>104</height>
			<texture border="1">side_fade.png</texture>
			<visible>!Skin.HasTheme(WhiteFlat)</visible>
		</control>

The control is showing even when the skin is not loaded. I tried multiple ways of doing this but nothing is working…is this feature not working properly or am I doing something wrong? (I tried using includes with conditions as well but it seems any HasTheme I try is ignored)

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to be more specific about what you’re doing in order to get any meaningful help.

Some things I think you need to specify:

What skin are you modifying ?
Where is that skin’s root folder installed (relative to your OpenPHT appdata folder) ?
Are you sure that skin is compatible to modern OpenPHT standards ?
What XML file contains the misbehaving code, and where is that XML file stored (relative to the skin’s root folder) ?
What do you mean by “control is showing even when the skin is not loaded” ?

That last part is particularly confusing. Controls of a skin not loaded should not display anything at all, since some other skin is then being used.

Just installed OpenPHT (openpht_1.6.2.123-e23a7eef-trusty_amd64.deb) on Linux Mint 17.1 (based on Ubuntu 14.04). No apparent errors during installation, but OpenPHT refuses to launch. Not sure where to go from here.

Separate options to disable/enable pre-play screen for tv/movies. Existed in PHT, using Plex Black Edition skin. Now it’s both or none. Like it for movies (extras, etc.), don’t need for tv shows. Posted in the Black Edition thread, was told it’s not a skin issue (thanks dlanor). Suggested I make a request with you guys. Thanks for all the work, Open PHT definitely a step up from PMP.

OpenPHT 1.6.2.123

Is it possible to display lyrics for premium music library, just as is possible in web client?
This would be really great!

Kind regards,
B

OpenPHT with VC-1 / MPEG2 licences on a Pi 3 is a better media player than my Mac Mini running Windows.

Picture quality is way better. Keep up the good work Rasplex team!

Would it be possible to get the .tar file for the generic build? I have a dual boot set up with Chrome on a chromebox and having the .tar file makes it easier to update.

totally 2nd this. I liked not having pre-play in tv but find it useful in movies. I guess it depends on your preferred layout for each. This is very much a 1st world problem and not a complaint and will continue on happily either way. Love OPHT.

I believe it’s part of the OpenPHT 2.0 milestones.

No advice?

Start it from the command line. Look what errors show up. Check the logfiles.

Hi, is it possible to play the music library on openpht startup.

Might be nice to find it on an nVidia shield one day

Hi,

Which one is the successor of this:
OpenPHT-Embedded-1.5.2.514-310d4f7e-Nvidia_Legacy.x86_64.img.gz

thx

PHT has stopped playing files with Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) audio. Plex Media Player handles the files just fine, but I really want to continue to use PHT on my HTPC. Does OpenPHT handle EAC3 audio? I’ve avoided switching up to now, but I think I may have no choice at this point.

Are you certain that you need ‘legacy’ code ?

I’m using a rather old Nvidia card myself in one of my computers (a Geforce FX5200 card), and this works fine using “OpenPHT-Embedded-1.6.2.123-e23a7eef-Generic.x86_64.img.gz”, which I think is the latest public release.
Even though my card can be considered ‘legacy’, I never used the ‘legacy’ version of OpenPHT 1.5.2 either, as the ‘generic’ version worked fine for me.
