Can we get a release that does hardware decode for 4K H.265 ?
Personally I canāt see an alternative way to manage my mediaā¦ Kodi is a heavy software that is just impossible to set up as well as OpenPHTā¦
Hey folks, n00b to this program, was hoping for some help. I want to run OpenPHT on my new QNAP TS-253B, but Iām unclear which version I need to install, or even how to download it to the NAS. Is there a guide somewhere that Iām missing?
Iām playing with the latest ubuntu pre-releaseā¦ None of the .debs will install. Is there something I need to do first?

Im not sure where this should go but I have OpenPHT on a Wetek Hub and recently I played a video that came from Youtube which was VP9. The Hub can handle almost any file but cannot hardware decode VP9 yet OpenPHT still tried to direct play the file. Is there somewhere I can edit a file either on the Hub or on my server to always transcode VP9 for the Wetek Hub? Thanks
Is there a way to change the plex device name? when using alexa it says playing on āOpenPHT-Embeddedā which is not very user friendly also it means if we had more than 1 OpenPHT-Embedded
device it would get confusing

Perhaps some day the dev will have time but hey it still works pretty damn well and is way better than PMP still.
The other option is that plex could just fix PMP lol.

The interface is still awful as it was since the day that they released it. I just opened it and updated it to check but yup it still sucks.
Edit: Jeeze PMP has loading time for images ect on the machine that has the server on it.
the interface is pretty different compared to the day they released it, doesnt much much sense you would say - unless you are just using the layout that looks like plexweb?
the tv layout changed alot in v2 compared to v1
I just checked and my PMP is on the latest version and it is still fairly similar to what it looked like before. I am talking about the TV interface ofc as the web interface is basically just the web interface. ā
It is clunky and slow. Both things that a media player should never feel like.
OPHT even a year old doesnāt feel like either of those thingsā¦

I bought a Nvidia shield hoping for a better plex experience but the lack of some basic buttons on Android TV makes the experience suck. Even though my windows machine has issues with resume and I have to bust out a keyboard to log in the OPHT is so much better for watching movies and TV. The super quick 30 sec skip ahead when pushing right on an infrared remote along with 10 min skip when pushing up is probably my favorite feature. The thing I donāt like is whenever I want to watch YouTube or Amazon prime video the experience is so much better on the shield so I am always switching back and forth.

Not sure what is going on with the development of OpenPHT, but I wanted to post this video I āmadeā a while ago, but just never got around to put it up on youtube. I originally created it just as something super quick to show a friend of mine that lives across the country to see exactly how I interact with Plex using OpenPHT and Aeon Nox instead of the horrible alternative. I figured others here may be in the same situation and just want to show someone else what it looks like and what they are missing out on.
By no means is this video of work of art. It couldnāt be any more simpler. itās me literally just going through a couple of the menus on my remote and showing what tv shows and movies look like and how you play them. Nothing more. Anyway, hope you find it usefulā¦before the copyright claims take it down.

PMP does not show the most basic & necessary info of Director/Writer/Studio. Has no views other than List View and Summary view, both of which sucks. The UI in my computer looks gigantic
