[RELEASE] OpenPHT 1.8.0

Is OpenPHT seeing any additional development? I would like to use it on my Raspberry Pi 3+ B.

I don’t know the answer to this, but I have just installed a nightly to my nuc, it runs quite well

Just want to reply to myself, I am a dick, The link I posted was for a Plex client. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Well I installed Openpht 1.8 to a usb stick running on my nuc. After a bit of messing around, I found Version 1.9 from Releases · Veisen/OpenPHT · GitHub
I just updated
That seems to run well, with Aeon Nox skin.

Thanks for pointing to that! What’s the SSH username and password for 1.9?

Because of my messing around, with different versions & trying to load ubuntu & plex.

plex login root
password plex or plexpht

I think

Thank you for OpenPHT.

I have an unusual issue. In my television series, I have Star Trek Voyager. If I select the very first episode and attempt to play it, I am prompted by a choice of two files. One is the correct file but the other is the series pilot from Star Trek Renegades which is in an entirely separate folder. I have checked the server and that file does not exist in the Voyager folder. I have run all the scans, optimize, trash, etc. options in the server but this persists.

The client version is 1.8.0.148-573b6d73.

Any ideas?

Did you install the generic release on your NUC?

Short answer, no. If I get a chance I’ll try the latest release, I was really thinking of waiting, until it’s based on Leia, rather than krypton.

Wait you installed 1.9 or no? I was curious was version of 1.9 you installed (if you did).

Thanks

No, I haven’t installed any version. If I did try one it would be from https://nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/embedded-testing/

Is OpenPHT 1.9 available for MacOS? If yes, where do I download it from?

Thanks

I think only the embedded version of 1.9 is available

At this point I would pay money, even a monthly fee for continued development of openpht.

Plex for Kodi is very limited in features and doesn’t work very well with large collections.

OpenPHT is so much better then everything else.

Recently videos will begin to make random crackling sounds in the audio after 15-20 minutes and get so bad, you can’t understand the dialogue. Sometimes stopping the video and resuming will clear it up for awhile but then it will happen again. Sometimes it is still crackling at the menu before starting the file. Happens only in OpenPHT and never happened for years before just recently. Windows 10.

I agree with Sam. OpenPHT 1.8.0 nailed it! I have never had any problems with it, yet, you never know what’s better until you see it.
Maybe: publish your bitcoin address with the README for any upgrades!

dan-the-man: do you know the OpenPHT developers? I would like to send them bitcoin (ZEC shieleded, even)

Same here I would happily donate if someone picks up OPHT for Windows and fixes the ability to resume videos etc this is best Plex client for a TV IMO.

I rolled back to a plex server release from December 2018 - resume functionality is now working. Not ideal, but will keep things going for a bit.

I also would happily donate for openPHT to continue development. It’s really lightyears ahead of the Plex apps.

That sounds like the same problem I have, if I stop a show midway the progress isn’t saved.

I really wish there was more development, even if it was paid :frowning:

I also get the crackling sound recently. Never happened before. Stopping works for another 15-30 minutes, but then resume only works about every second time, so then I have to fast forward to where i was.
extremely annoying
