Remote Access - After All These Years

It’s still hit or miss.

Nothing has changed in my network - NOTHING - and yet remote access just decided to stop working.

I’ve had the same port assigned to my server for years and it’s the ONLY one I use port forwarding for. And yet it is inaccessible. When I restart Plex it shows accessible until you restart/refresh then it magically turns red.

Is there a secret to keeping this BASIC functionality working? i thought maybe paying for the Lifetime option would mean something - apparently not.

Is remote access actually not functional or are you going by the status display in Plex?

Verify the accessibility of your external port number with canyouseeme.org.
If it says ‘accessible’, all is well and you can ignore the status display in Plex. (This is a known issue that is being worked on.)

Not functional.

canyouseeme.org reports success on for 32400

Then it should work if you try to acccess your server from outside of your home network.

It does not. My neighbor and I have had access to each others servers for years and mine suddenly stopped being visible to him. This happens on an irregular basis.

This might actually be something else.
Your server is only shared to one other plex account.
But this plex account is not the same that is used by the server that your neighbour shared with you.
Ask him whether he accidentally switched his web browser to a different plex account.
This can happen if he used to use his email address to log in to plex.tv but has now tapped ‘Login with Google or Facebook’.

Please test your server’s remote-visibilty yourself, for instance by switching off your phone’s WiFi and use your mobile data plan.
If you can access your server over mobile data, then remote access is working, and the issue is a plex account mixup, as explained above.

I can access his server via my mobile using mobile data but mine is showing “offline”…

Did u check if your external ip that shows in your modem is same as your external ip that show when you google whats my ip
İt has hapened to me when my isp randomly puts me in a cgn

Yes. verified the external IP at both my router and what’s my IP? All match what’s showing in Plex.

Should be asking the basic questions first. Though the OP says nothing has changed, did his PMS automatically upgrade recently? What version is it at? Seen a lot of posts about remote access breaking for some in the recent server updates.

That just means that he shared his server with your account.
But apparently you do not share your server with his account (or at least the account he is using at the moment.)

Hallo @OttoKerner thanks for this!

I had an open ticket from over a week ago that @tom80h left me hanging. He hadn’t mentioned this bug but I was able to verify that the port indeed is open and I’ve confirmed I am able to access remotely.

Vielen Dank!

I had the same issue after updating to latest version 1.14.something, Remote Access stopped working, so I rolled back to 1.13.8 and now it works again.
