Remote Access (again) seems to be problematic

Please :backhand_index_pointing_up: this. For anyone still having issues.

Sorry for the late of response. I have been monitoring this thread and others. I honestly thought I did post a “we’re investigating this” but looks like I didn’t. Sorry for about that.

When this thread initially started there was a backend issue that was DNS related that was quickly resolved but probably needed some time before it propagated out to everyone. This incident should have triggered a update to the our status page, but obviously didn’t. We’ve updated the rules around what/when should be updating the status page so if a similar incident happens it’ll get posted.

After this backend fix there was separate plex.tv update that was part of the IPv6 support work that ended up needing reverted. The impact was that when there were more than one server on the same network, one would be selected as the “one” and all others were blocked or unable to be published. I think I’m relaying that correctly but I might be missing something, though I’m pretty sure that was the gist of it.

So, all in all a bit of a perfect storm. :face_exhaling: Sorry to all those who were impacted and for all the frustration that this issue has caused. Both of these issues should be resolved so if you’re still having remote access issues, please download your PMS logs and share them.

Since I did see a couple people mentioning changing their DNS provider resolved their issue, please also see our support article on DNS Rebinding.
