Remote access always turning off

can someone help me?
the remote access keep getting disabled all of a sudden in plex.
it was working fine for months and months and not all of a sudden the remote access gets disabled.

I have not touched anything in my router settings, but I do notice that when I reboot my sinology I get a message that port forward rules have been disabled.

Are you manually port forwarding or just using UPnP in your router?

Neither.

Then remote access would not work at all.

i recently got a new router and i have enabled UPnP and remote access turns on, then after right away.
i cant seem to figure out how to port forward in my router settings either.

my router is a ASUS RT-AX55

I have a very weird problem. When my access shows running normal and green I CANNOT access the server BUT when it shows no access outside my network in red I CAN access it :frowning:

@patrickwhalen I don’t have an Asus anymore but these are instructions I wrote up when i did have one. Not sure if the interface is still the same on their newer models but hopefully they are similar. [How-To] Port Forward Asus Router

@rschmittendorf which Plex app(s) are you using to access it?

currently, i use plex on these devices
apple tv
ipad
iphone

sorry @patrickwhalen the app question was for @rschmittendorf . I linked some instructions on how to port forward in an Asus above.

PlexAmp (iOS & iPadOS), Laptop and Fire Stick TV. All show same behavior

the instrusctions seem different than mine settings to choose

Also to consider. I run the server in Windows 11. Computer connected to a Linksys Router that is connected to my ISP router #notideal

your solution worked!!
i turned off wifi on my iphone and i was able to see all my libraries.

thanks so much!

you may have a double nat situation. In your Linksys router look at what is lists as the WAN ip. if it list anything that begins with 192, 10 or 172 ( standard local/private IP addresses) then it is likely a double NAT. basically the router is being treated like any other device on network or LAN rather than the gateway to the internet so it being. essentially two networks,

( Please do not write here publicly what your real WAN IP is which you can find by typing “what is my IP” in google)

Can you set your ISP router into bridge mode so it only acts as a modem? Else you may need to do port forwarding in both.

So I have all my port forwarding setup… my remote access worked for months, then out of the blue stopped, I have checked everything. not to mention, i click retry, it works for 5 minutes or so then boom stops working and says it is not accessible outside my network… we pay for damn service, but have to come to the forums for help??? no customer service?? fk you plex and your ■■■■ customer service.

@NicksPlexMS1

You have two servers, both active, named NicksPlex which should be active?

One was created yesterday and one 32 minutes ago.

May I see your DEBUG server logs ZIP file – collected about 3 minutes AFTER restarting PMS ?

I have the same problem. Remote access has always worked but now, for no reason it turns on and off every 5 minutes. (same modem, and router using port forwarding, always have).
Is there a sure way to figure out why it’s doing this? I’ve read hundreds of posts with a lot of similar situations but there is never an answer given. Do people just give up?

@chezpaul

Please do the same for me,

  1. DEBUG logging on
  2. VERBOSE logging off
  3. Restart PMS
  4. Wait 3 minutes for PMS to startup (I get to see it establish Remote Access)
  5. Download Logs

Now, the moment it fails to show Green access,
Download the Zip again

Attach both please. I’ll follow the events.

Cool. Doing it now.
Thanks. You’re like a piece of heaven. :joy:
Of course, I’m doing it and it restarts ON and it hasn’t turned off yet.
K it turned OFF. Sending in PM
