Remote Access Crashing

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#:

I’m running Windows 10 on an HP z800 with dual Xeon x5650 CPU’s. All up to date.

I am at a loss. A few updates ago, remote access started to crash when it is trying to be used outside of my network. I have look at the troubleshooters, helps and nothing. I see others are having the same issue.

-No double Nat
-Gave my serve a static IP & in the modem/router as well
-Turned off the Windows firewall & antivirus
-No VPN running
-probably a bunch other things I can’t think of.

The home network works great, just when anyone tries to log in outside, they get the Server Unavailable and when I goto check, Plex disappears from the taskbar when I try to click on it with my mouse.

I am very disappointed as I got the Plex pass so I could watch movies with friends who live far away. So far this has been very aggravating and disappointing.

This latest update, 1.19.4.2935, broke my remote access again. This is getting beyond stupid.

I hate the fact that I have to use these forums to get tech support that doesn’t respond to a question needing help. I have posted a few times over the past little bit and nothing every time.

I rolled back to 1.19.4.2902 and all my issues are gone. I’ll be very hesitant ever updating Plex again after the last couple months.

How do you go back to a previous version, the update also broke my remote access?

In your plex data folder is a folder called updates. It has all your past versions.
It should be in C:/users/“yourname”/AppData/local/Plex Media Server/updates
Assuming C: is your boot drive and that is where you installed Plex etc…This is also for Win10.

Close down Plex and then uninstall it. Then in that update folder, click on the version you want to install.
You won’t lose any of your metadata either.

I will note that with the latest update, I did get my remote access working after rebooting my router and server a couple times. It did show it wasn’t connected but was working. My biggest issue with the latest update was that I kept getting an indirect connection on my home network and anything I watched was being transcoded and I had crappy picture quality.
I use Nvidia shields in the house, so everything should direct play.
Rolling back fixed that for me and my remote access stays showing connected now also.

I have the same issue even with this version.
Only one week ago there weren’t problems.
What should I do?
