remote access used to work fine but has stopped working

I have xfinity gigabit internet with their router, have enabled port forwarding and manually specified the port. it will say remote access is enabled for about 5 seconds, then quickly say it isnt… i also put exceptions in my windows firewall

tatulli says “Plex remote access port mapped, but mapping failed, ping attempt 16.”

please let me know any way i might be able to resolve this.

thanks

check canyouseeme.org for your port and see if it shows success.
once it does it will work.
you might need to check your port forwarding or firewall.

thanks for the reply

canyouseeme.org shows success but it still is not working

as i mentioned before, i have already done the TCP/UDP port forward, and added an exception to the windows firewall

i got it to stay enabled by turning off the ipv6 and ipv4 firewall , but i dont know if it is a good idea to turn it completely off like this

do you know which of these options would be a good idea to enable, without breaking plex?

Suddenly after several months of steady remote access, today I am experiencing this issue, with nothing having changed in my set up.

Here’s the deal… I’ve gone through this several times, and there’s never really anything wrong from the Plex side, according to the support I receive here.

Things I’ve done:

  1. Forward a range of ports and every time I lose remote access, change to a new port. This worked pretty well, but was somewhat annoying if I happened to be on the road when remote access stopped working.

  2. Added a second network card on a separate IP. This one is weird, but did provide some alleviation of issues, although it ultimately caused some new issues as well.

  3. Pulled my hair out, stomped my feet, and generally cursed Plex. Obviously this wasn’t very helpful.

  4. Waited. This is I think the one that had the most effect. Even though it was never an issue on the Plex side, eventually the issue went away and things started working again. As usual, with nothing changing in my setup.

well darn… disabling firewall seemed to work for a few hours but now it is doing the exact same thing… is there any way to get support for this issue?

can you post a shot of your port forwarding?
