Remote Access Disconnects loses Internet Connection

Server Version#: 1.20.3.3437

Hi all,

Apologies - I know this is a common problem, but I’ve tried digging through a ton of posts and couldn’t find anything helpful… plus I have some weird scenarios that might be clues, so hopefully someone can help!

Every now and then, multiple times a day, Remote Access loses its connection to the internet and when friends (or myself) try to access my server remotely, the content doesn’t load.

I have a 900mbps fibre connection, server computer (Windows 10 Pro) is connected via ethernet, I reserved my IP address, so it doesn’t change, and the public port isn’t changing either… basically, private and public ports and IP addresses don’t change (as seen on the sRemote Access settings - I don’t use manual port forwarding, as I just let Plex do its thing), and yet it decides to disconnect from the internet… so I click ‘RETRY’ and boom, it’s back and my friends back access it again.

Some things I’ve noticed…

  1. It will always work instantly if I’m on my home wifi network, but if I switch to 4G it won’t connect anymore.
  2. Sometimes, when I’m not able to connect when not on my home wifi network, if I keep trying to refresh, closing the app and opening it again for around 5 minutes, the server will finally start working… but it takes a while and my friends just message to say it’s not working - they won’t keep repeating this process for 5-10 minutes in the hopes it ‘wakes up’. The fact that if I connect to my home wifi it works immediately makes me think this isn’t a case of the server ‘waking up’.

Any ideas? Anything I can do? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!!

∆∆∆ this is most likely the issue.
Many routers destroy port forwardings which were created automatically after a while.

That’s odd, applications should always keep the port mappings alive.

But yes, try putting the port mapping in manually, see if that works. It’s not much work.

I have issues with it disconnecting remotely on some apps, but not on all. Sometimes it also happens locally.

I Have Windows 10 Pro. This has been happening for a month or two on a brand new computer I built.

Same settings as my other one, but does not happen on the old one.

I have Google Fiber and their router. I have wifi turned off and I am using my Google Nest Wifi. Settings have been done to reserve IP address and Port forwarding
