Remote access does not work from new laptop under windows 11

Server Version#:1.41.8.9134
Player Version#:

I bought a new laptop that already has windows 11 and since then remote access from outside the network has not worked.

In the settings I have the green tick with the 32400 port, yet it cannot see the server.

On my old laptop I have the same version (1.41.8.9834) but the remote access from it works under windows 10. I tried it from my mobile, both 2 laptops are within the network, one I can see from my mobile with mobile data, the other not.

What could be the problem?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you add a new computer with Windows to your home network, it has the network connection classified as “public” by default.
You need to explicitly set this to “private”, or the Windows firewall will keep all ports closed. And thus nothing from outside your latop can reach Plex server.

Are you using 32400 on the old server too? You can’t use the same port for 2 servers.

Private network, unfortunately this is not the problem

Thank you, I will try

I tried it, I changed the port to 29188 and even added it as an exception in the incoming rules in the windows firewall (TCP 29188, UDP 29189) but it still doesn’t work.

Meanwhile I noticed that the old laptop has a different IP address than the new one. The old one is 192.168.1.157, while the new one is 192.168.1.118. Could this be the problem?

Make sure your router configuration has:

  1. An IP reservation for the laptop (so it’ll always assign that same IP address to the device)
  2. Create a port forwarding rule that forwards requests to TCP 29188 to the Laptop (private IP 192.168.1.118 and private port 32400)

Afterwards verify the PMS remote access settings to confirm the Manually specify public port option is checked and set to 29188.
