Remote Access Setup on a Win11 PMS

Hello all,

I have built a Windows 11 PMS and it works well on my internal network. Now I am trying to turn on remote access but I cannot get outbound. My firewall NAT rules are in place, as they worked when my PMS was on my NAS. I only updated the NAT IP for the Plex server.

I tried to update the Windows Defender inbound rules for the entry Plex Media Server. I updated the local port to be 32400 and the remote port to be the port that I specified in the firewall NAT. Am I missing something else?

Could be the Windows network setting (e.g. if the PC’s network is configured as “public” vs. “private”).

Ding ding ding…yes it was public vs private but a little added work. Even after changing the PC to private remote access would not enable. I had to uninstall PMS, reboot the PC, and then install it again. Remote access came up immediately.
