My server has a static IP address and is port forwarded.
This is going to be a bit convoluted so I apologize. Some clients work in some situations but not others. This has been happening for the last week or so.
android mobile app cannot access my server or any other server.
nvidia shield app can access my local server but not remote servers. Also a users nvidia shield app cannot access my server.
Chrome for windows web app (app.plex.tv) does not connect to any server local or otherwise.
Firefox for windows web app (app.plex.tv) can connect to everything local and remote.
Chrome for android web app (app.plex.tv) Cannot connect to any server
Roku app Can connect both locally and remote
Due to the fact it is working remotely on some clients but not others, I feel as though this has to be on the plex side of things. Any suggestions?
I’m experiencing a similar issue. My Plex client on the Shield has started crashing every time I click on the “More” link to access a remote server. No issues with Mac OS, Apple TV, Web or Roku clients, and other remote users seem to be able to access my server without issues. No recent changes to settings, etc., so I’m thinking an automatic update may have borked something.
Can you check if the clients that successfully connect to your server are using a direct connection or go through a Plex relay server? This should be showing in the server’s dashboard if you’re playing something… the connection should be displayed as local, remote or indirect.
Can you check if you’re using different DNS servers or any content blockers / security tools for those clients? Any VPN involved in your setup?
That wild mix of different experiences makes it seem like there’s something weird in your setup…
It’s a direct connection easily streaming at 80+mbps. PMS bypasses my vpn. There are other posts I’ve seen pop up that say they are only having problems on remote Android clients.
This has happened to a few people lately and a possible solution to try is to use a public DNS such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. For some reason, ISPs seem to be blocking plex.tv on their DNS for Android devices and web.
