I recently got a QNAP TS-453BT3-8G (connected my macbook pro) and I installed Plex. I would like to be able to access it remotely.
- I enabled UPnP
- I think I opened a port in my router (Not sure if I did it right so I attached a screenshot)
When I refresh the plex settings page then I can see it goes GREEN. For 4-5second. Then goes RED.
Any idea how i can get it to work?
Sounds to me like u didn’t forward the ports in your router to the nas. U need 32400tcp to be forwarded to your nas ip inside the router. Sounds like your router is blocking the incoming connection. What router are you using(brand, model) I can prob help with a little more info
I am using ZyXel NBG6503. If you could help me how to unblock the incoming connection it would be great!
Go to this address. www.noip.com/support/knowledge base/setting-port forwarding-zyxel-router/
Should be pretty easy, u need port 32400 tcp to the ip of the server
I went to the URL and I cant find anything related to my router.
When you say “u need port 32400 tcp to the ip of the server”. What do you mean? I need to go into the settings of my server and change something there?
I found the article now but still not sure how to set it up…any guidance would be highly appreciated.
This is what I set:
u need your routers default gateway address(ex.192.168.1.1). It actually might be the address I used. Type that in a web browser. Then username and password for accessing the router.(default username-admin. Password-1234) unless u changed them. click on network, then NAT. Once on nat page click application or port forwarding. Click active enter a service name(ex. Plex) port #32400 then enter qnap IP address then apply. U can also use https://portforward.com/zyxel/.
Welcome. Please leave a thumbs up
