Remote Access error with port forwarding setup on a Motorola SBG6580

I’ve been running Plex Media Server as a paid user for many years. I have it installed on my Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64 Bit. I’ve never been able to get my Remote Access working. Whenever i hit retry it works turns green and stays that way for about 4 seconds and then turns to the red “Not available outside your network” I believe I have my Port Forwarding setup correctly.

I have a ARRIS Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 set up with port forwarding:

But I still get no Remote Access. I’ve spent more time trying to trouble-shoot this one problem than I’d like to admit. It really can’t be this hard.

On some modems, remote access is problematic.
I had the same issue (and I work for Plex). I changed the modem. ActionTec T3200 and let it do UPnP. It worked.
Recently, I installed a pfSense box to take over all PPPoE and firewall functions from the modem. Again, UPnP works. There was no need to use static IP port mapping. (key there is static IP on the host)

Your modem should be showing your external-IP:32400 and internal-IP:32400.
Next you must ‘manually specify port’ and lock it at 32400.

I’ve disabled verbose logging just now, sorry thought it was off.

I have the Forwarding listed as such

You have that Create IPv4 button. Is your external IP IPv6 ? What is your internal IP? V4 or V6?

This is what I have listed for that:

Moderator removed User’s public IP information

my IPv4 Address is 192.168.0.18

Thanks. You’re doing everything correct and I cannot explain why. it’s not working

I removed your screenshots for your protection.

Ok, well at least I know I have it setup correctly! Very weird indeed!

Thanks for taking a look!

If I were to grasp straws, What does Canyouseeme.org show? If that site can’t see your computer, you need to speak to the ISP. If it can, and you aren’t running a firewall (ufw or iptables) on Linux, then I am out of ideas. There isn’t much in that data stream

It works if you set the external ip with 0.0.0.0 with what ever port you want to use.
