Gang,
I am getting reports from other Ninjas…
There is an apparent outage but none of the operations team are around to verify or assist and there is nothing I or any of us (including ninjas) can do.

Again, There appears to be a partial outage at Plex.tv which has not been confirmed
Such an outage will cause Remote Access to fail.
As requested, here is QNAP x86_64 PMS 1.13.4

thx
FYI I tried rolling back my plex to 1.13.4 and even 1.12.3 and still had same problem. So I am not sure its a release issue. My servers say they are available from outside (when looking locally on plex app for each of my servers , but still can’t see them externally), it worked for a little while yesterday and today, but has gone out again with No changes on my side, I did try stopping/starting and rebooting servers and still didn’t matter.
Oh wow, I’m kind of glad it’s not my end! I’ve been trying everything.
Haven’t tried rolling back though, currently on 1.13.8.5395 on Windows 10.
Edit - Strangely I can sometimes access on my phone via 4G when it says it is down.
Is there a way to do a direct connection between remote friends and my NAS (which doesn’t involve rocket science)? I’m not sure I’m happy having to rely on this relay. It’s a point of failure (obviously).
EDIT: I’m sure you do some kind of license check / IP match-up stuff, so I understand you can’t get rid of it entirely, but maybe you can make the software cache said information for up to 3 days so it can do a fallback for times like this?
There are a few ways, each with varying degrees of Rocket Science involved
but it does take some work. It’s not a ‘point and click’ operation.
Please let me know how much I need to detail as it is expected folks know how to admin their Linux systems
I just had my parents test the connection and they were able to get in (and everything seems ok in my Plex settings dialog), so I’m going to table any further action for now. Thanks for your help…
I’ve noticed that the Roku client isn’t automatically connecting to my server (local network) lately. I have to manually select it from the servers list each time I launch the client. Is this issue related?
I had cancelled my Plex Pass and now I cannot gain access to local server remotely. It is stating to either purchase a Plex Pass or pay a 1 time fee for access (google play store). Is this just recent? I remember having remote access before, and the only reason that I purchased a Plex Pass was for the Plex Cloud. Am I right that remote access needs to purchase the app now?
What about the Web interface?
Kev
Plex Pass is not required for Remote Access.
There is an outage with Plex.tv. The Operations team is not available to investigate, confirm, and/or repair yet.
An outage for about a month now? I’ve had this issue start ever since 1.13.5.5332 in August. I rolled back to 1.13.2 and it fixed my issue. After about 2 weeks I wanted to try upgrading again and the issue came back and I went back to 1.13.2 and it didn’t fix my issue so I rolled back further and it fixed it. So, staying where I’m at until it’s confirmed an issue on Plex’s end and not their firmwares.
ChuckPA not sure this helps but one thing I noticed is if you have a single Plex server it seems to work but more then one instance of Plex it seems to only work for one of the instances the others say off line even though they are green in Plex app for online access. Hope this helps
There is no apparent pattern to it other than it seems to be centered on the EU data centers (Ireland). If those in the US are on the Ireland server, they will be impacted. Beyond that, without looking up the exact pinning, it is guesswork.
We can only wait until they investigate and take action
An issue with part of the infrastructure was identified yesterday and fixed. The issue was affecting PMS connectivity tests for remote access in some regions. It was definitely affecting Europe-West region.
If there are still issues, would like to see server logs captured some minutes after loading the server settings page for remote access in a browser and doing an F5 browser refresh.
(of course ensuring debug logging was enabled on the server previously)

It seems it’s working now!
I’ll definitely verify it tomorrow out of mu local network, but it seems all is working well at this moment.
Thanks for your speed and professionalism.
So this is all good now? I’m hesitant to update the server back to latest.
The last issue was infrastructure related and not a Plex Media Server issue
Right, all is working well now.
Sorry, but for me it’s still flapping. Once I click on Retry it’s ok, next time it’s not and it is keep changing automatically as well, and mostly it says it’s not available, while I can access the server from my phone, but not always, sometimes it says server is not available… Pretty annoying.
