Remote Access issues for new user with Netgear Orbi

Server Version#: Windows 2016
Player Version#: lRWAR

Hi, new to this service. Been using another service to stream my music but been having issues so wanted to try out Plex after hearing good things. I am trying to setup the remote access as this will be used quite a bit but not having much luck. Read all the Troubleshooting docs and can’t imagine (short of rebooting my router) could be the issue. I set up the Port forwarding on the router but no luck. Disabled uPNP and reenabled still no luck. Anyone have any good troubleshooting tips?

Thanks!

You seem to have set it up. I can see that your account has a server named ECMediaServer and is enabled for remote access through public port 32400 which would be the port you have used in the Port Forward in the router and manually specified it in server remote access settings

As you have a Port forward, you need to make sure that 192.168.1.60 is a DHCP Reservation so that it stays fixed

uPnP is still needed even when using a Port Forward as Plex Media Server uses to establish the public IP and check it for detecting Double NAT

If you have issues you can upload logs plus description of the problem

Ok, I didnt have the reservation, not sure if that was it but now says its available outside network! One other questions you may or may not know is there a way to setup a dns name to use outside the network. like myplex.plex.com or something like that?

you can use Custom Server Access URLs - see network settings but there may be complications with secure connections and certificates then

I am having this same issue with Plex media server not working remotely with this Orbi RBK50 router…can you list some step by step instruction on how to make this work?

You quoted a post relating to use of Custom Server Access URL - this was specifically to answer the question

Is there a way to setup a dns name to use

Cannot offer you router specific support. The only advice available is generic and would apply to all routers.

To setup Remote Access see

If you go for the manual setup of the port option and use Port Forward, you can refer to external sites with information - such as portforward.com - these sites are mentioned on the troubleshooting article i linked
