Remote access not available depsite forwarded port

i have a port forwarded and still nothing. This was working and now its not. i tampered with nothing. What can i do to get more information to figure out what has happened?

Try unchecking the manually specified port and saving it again. It’s been known to get “stuck” and not actually save what it appears to have been saved as.

Also, probably not great to post your public IP address. May want to pull that image or blur it out.

Even if you didn’t change anything, other players might have. It could be a background change in your own setup or something your ISP did.

For starters: have you verified the manual port forward is working? You can do that using a service like canyouseeme.org. There you can also verify if the public IP seen from the outside is the same as the one seen by Plex‘s remote access settings (and both match that assigned as WAN IP in your router).

The remote access settings are known to show a green status while it’s still performing thr status check (and only turning red after that check has finished, which can be seconds or up to 1-2 minutes later, depending on your setup). I’m not aware of setting changes getting stuck.

It comes back as an error. Turns out i got a new modem for the house and forgot to port forward here. But when i went to add the standard number in TCP as the plex help page says, the rule will not save without a number in the internal port as well as the external. I cannot enter a number as large as the suggested port in the intenal one, so what is this number? any number or a certain number? i tried 1 on the internal, and 32400 on the external port, and running the port checker it says connection refused.

i unchecked the manual port box, and told it to refresh and now it stuck on “connecting server” for 3 minutes straight. and i took the photo down, thanks.

Public port could be any valid port number… it’s good practice to stay within the range of 20000 to 50000, to avoid collisions with certain standard ports (though, some users are successful with using standard ports like 8080).
The internal port must be 32400 (no recommendation; that’s the hard-coded port to which your server is listening). If the router settings expect a range of ports, just go with a range of 1 port (e.g. 32400-32400 on the internal side).

If your router config expects something entirely different, you might need to share more details.

ok well i did some futtzing around and i finally got it to not create a massive range on the internal side and just let it be the magic number, and it finally shows green on the canyousee me. thanks a lot for the help!

Thanks, I just had this problem after resetting my password, and this fixed it for me too.
