Remote Access not working all of the sudden. Shield client on local network not playing locally

Server Version#:1.42.2.10156

I have an up to date server running on ubuntu 24.04.3. Everything was working great until a few days ago. Now, remote access no longer works and my local shieldTV(wireless) is using an indirect connection instead of connecting locally. My wired windows desktop client seems to work fine. I have tried all the standard things, rebooting the router and modem, rebooting the server. When i reboot the ShieldTV it will connect locally for a while…

I have the same problem. Recently updated to 1.42.2.10156 on a Windows 10 machine. Since the update which happened Last Night I can’t play anything using the https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/ web-inteface but I can if I go through the Localhost web-interface.

If I try to watch something I’m told I need to have a “Remote Watch Pass” costing $3.00AUD / Month. I’m wondering if this a strategy to get non Plex-pass holders to pay for plex.

How PMS shows remote access settings:

New Logs also that better show how Shield TV, when rebooted, will play media as if on the local network, which it is.

Network configuration issues.

Identify your router.
Change it’s DNS to point to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
Look for DNS-Rebinding, if you can’t put in an exclusion for plex.direct then disable it. If you can’t disable it then no remote networking.

Clear out the “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” under Plex > settings >networking. None of the clients are authenticating.
