Remote Access Not Working

Server Version#: 1.13.5.5332
Player Version#:
Hi, I wondered if somebody could help as this is driving me mad, I keep getting “Not available outside your network” message, plex has always worked fine up until a few weeks ago. I’ve tried uninstalling Plex completely and renaming the old folder in localapps, disabling UPnP and re enabling it, disabling and re enabling remote access, and the issue persists.
If I disable and re enable remote access it shows as available again until I leave the server page and return then it drops back to not available. I’ve installed media server on my laptop and it works fine so isn’t a router/network issue.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

More importantly local connection isn’t working either, I have my Plex server connected via LAN and my ROKU and am still getting a relayed connection. I’ve also now tried signing into a different account in Windows on my plex server and booting into safemode with networking and the issue persists. I’ve tried signing out and in of both my plex online account and server account with no luck and even removing the server and re adding it, I’m currently banging my head against my desk as I don’t understand why it would work on my laptop and not the pc/main plex server

You may have DNS Rebinding Protection on the router which would result in the secure https requests for your local network fail and if this happens then remote access or plex relay indirect could be the route to the server

For remote access are you using a port forward in the router for each server or are you using the automatic port configuration using uPnP ? The router would need to have uPnP enabled

If you are using port forward and manually specified port then if you have multiple servers, you need to have each port forward have a different public port but all must forward to 32400 to the target server local IP

Also check firewall and ensure there are program rules for the Plex Media Server exe files and may help to also have inbound port rule that just mentions local port 32400 and the rest set to any (i.e. set these to any: remote IP, remote port, program)

Hi, My laptop is working fine as a plex server on the same network connected to the same router so isn’t a Router, uPnP, Port Forward or DNS issue or don’t believe it is. I’ve tried disabling the firewall on the router and in Windows and the issue persists I’ve also checked for exceptions in the windows firewall and Plex is listed. I’ve ended up resetting Windows 10 on my machine and it seems to have cured the issue, now I’ve just got to go through the horrid process of re installing everything on my PC and adding my immense Plex library again.

I forgot to mention that may be the local network was set to Public Network or Undefined Network in windows - that does happen from time to time and needs user intervention to correct it and change it to Private Network

Is that in Windows or Plex itself? would be curious to know incase it ever happens again or some other poor sod has the same issue in the future. Thanks for trying to help by the way its’ very much appreciated, I probably should have waited a little longer before the Windows reset but had already spent days trying to troubleshoot so thought this would be easier

Windows

When you click on open Network & internet sharing that would show your local network connection and below that if it is considered private or public

you will find a lot of hits when you search for the problem - either here in the forums or externally

I started having this exact issue today. I am on Server Version: Version 1.13.5.5332 also. Everything was working fine and had been for 2 years. Today, nothing. I am getting Not available outside your network. I have checked everything that has been suggested, and everything is as suggested.

Hi Tom, are you having the same issue as in that your plex isn’t available on your local network either? as it turns out that was the underlying issue on mine, if it is you could try as sa2000 suggested and check what your network is displaying as. I gave up before this advise and just reset Windows 10, meant I had to re install all my programs but has at least fixed my plex issue, I’m not saying it will be the same for you though

Yeah I checked that before I even posted on here. It is set to a PRIVATE network. I am not sure what the actual problem is, whether it is Windows 10 or PLEX itself. I think I may uninstall PLEX and reinstall it to see if it works. Someone stomped on the other one, the way it looks.

OK, I just uninstalled the media server from my PC, and reinstalled it. AND it is now working fine.

It did connect for a while…Now the same thing. So that did NOT fix it, but it definitely makes me believe that it is ALL in PLEX, not Windows.

Lets get some logs with debug enabled and details of your setup - if using manually specified port with a port forward to a dhcp reserved ip address or using automatic uPnP configuration

Please ensure logging enabled
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

restart the server
capture logs when it is working

when it drops off and the server is no longer accessible remotely, please capture logs again

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Here are the LOG files.

Logs.zip (9.8 MB)

The important log files are not in the zip

You must never zip directories in-situ. Always copy out and then zip the copy. The reason is that all files open at the time - and all active log files would be - would get skipped

Please restart the server and wait for next occurrence and then copy out the logs directory and zip the copy. Alternatively use the built in Plex Web facility for downloading logs

Hi, i have the same issue with Server Version#: 1.13.5.5332

I recently transferred Plex to a new system and only now I am having these problems.
in the old system I was with Plex 1.12.3.4973-215c28d86 and I did not have these problems.

Do I have to downgrade or are there other solutions?

Failures need to be investigated. So please see my previous posts here and provide details of your remote access configuration and logs captured after remote access drops out

ok, server have a static ip

could you give me the exact name of the log used to investigate the problem?
