Remote access not working

Having issues with my Remote Access string connected and its not working remotely . Running my Plex server on a WD MyCloud Mirror 2nd Gen.

  • When I’m in my home testing to see if my server is working remotely with my iPhone I turn off the wifi. (when off wifi I’m using my cellular data for testing purposes)

  • I log into Plex either with the Plex app or go directly to the Plex Web page and sign in.

  • Plex opens and I can see all my movies. I can click on a movie and the movie description and all the actors can be see.

  • When I click PLAY I get error message there is not enough bandwidth

  • I can play all my music with no issue, works fine.

  • As soon I reconnect to my home network everything work okay. Remote access for my movies does not work

From what you’ve described, the remote connection itself seems to be working. You can see your server and its content while you’re outside your home network.

As for the bandwidth warning/error message…

  • What’s the internet upload bandwidth you get from your ISP?
  • Have you configured some restrictions to remote streaming bitrates → e.g. Settings > [Server Name] > Remote Access > Internet Upload Speed or Limit remote video quality?
  • When streaming remotely (e.g. with music as that seems to work)… is your connection displaying as remote or indirect on your server’s dashboard (now playing)?
