Remote Access Off Line--since new iMAc

about a month ago I bought a new iMac to replace the feeble 2013 Intel chip one. I had been running Plex, using an external 4 TB hard drive where my music library was stored as a server. I had some occasional connection issues in the past, but since the new iMac, I had to create a new Server and since then I am unable to establish remote access most of the time, on my App on my Apple iPhone XR. I get an “offline”: response. When I check Plex on my iMac, Remote Access gets the green check mark, and I have no problem accessing the server from two Apple TV’s I have on my network, in my house.

I thought it may have been problems with ATT Fibre Gateway/.Router (and it may be!) but I don’t know where to start, really–actually, I have checked router setting, etc., but I am a novice regarding all things Networky…

Let’s maybe start with something simple… did you create an IP reservation in the DHCP settings of your router for the new iMac?
Such “on/off experiences” could be based on the router assigning your iMac a new local IP address when Plex is still searching the server on its old local network address.

There’s also a guide with some more details on how to troubleshoot remote access issues:

Thanks for that…I did create an IP Reservation, but still encounter OffLine msgs. on my iPhone App when not on the Wifi network. Will search some more…I’m a newbie at networking so it’s going to be slow going, I guess.

I should note that on the iMac which runs the server, it consistently says Remote Access is enabled…fully accessible. So I think it’s a network issue, not a Plex issue…
