Remote access problem and quality video problem

Hello, i built my server NAS recently, installing Plex without any problems and i could launch medias easily but when im trying to launch medias online with an other computer in an other place than mine (not from my local adresse), medias for exemple movies get started normally but the quality blocks at 720p i dont even know why, with all my movies !!! Im lost
also, the issue keep going at the level of remote access however I opened the 32400 port with the static IP adresss but nothing changes.

I’ve provide logs if it helps.

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on vePlex Media Server Logs_2020-09-08_05-28-22.zip (1.1 MB) rbose logging>

Did you check the remote quality settings on the computer you’re using to access the Plex server with remotely? The remote streaming quality setting on clients is set really low by default. Might just need to adjust that setting:

it is steup at most so i don’t think that’s it

What is your internet upload speed at the location hosting the server?

between 700mbps and 900mbps so relativement good

You opened the port, but is Plex showing it as green “Fully accessible outside your network” on the Remote Access section on the server settings?

No, impossible, i’ve try several times but that’s stay still offline

even when i bypass firewall in router i’ve still issue “not available outside your network”

Well if it doesn’t have a good path outside your network I’m surprised you’re getting 720p quality. I thought Relay connections were limited to 480p.

So at this point this is really a networking issue. Are you getting a direct IP address from your internet provider on your router? If your WAN IP as seen by your router is on any of the following ranges you are not directly on the Internet and are going through a second layer of NAT.

  • 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
  • 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
  • 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255

My IP public not found on any of the following ranges, my IP public begin by 176

i don’t know if that you help.

How i’m settings a second layer of NAT ? my NAT and Upnp is activate but without rules, maybe i have to add some new rules ?

If uPnP is active, Plex should be able to set it’s own port forward on your router and you shouldn’t need to manually set the port.

Have you tried letting Plex set the forward for you? I tried to change the port Plex was using once and it did not seem to work even when I manually configured the port forwarding on my router. It’s been a couple years since then, so maybe the results would not be the same now. But I have Plex working fine so I don’t feel like trying again.

Edit: Why has the person I’m replying to suddenly changed?

i’ve just changed my username and add picture.

so you advice me do what ? if it’s not my firewall, NAT, uPnP, my internet speed… what do i have to do ?

Whatever, dude. If you changed your username your earlier posts would not show the old one. Also, your logs show two people interacting with the server – aymarguillambert@aol.fr and amb1099@protonmail.com. I was going to ask which one you were to make sure I was looking at the right playback logs, but at this point your should just be real and say “my remote user is having trouble”.

Speaking of those logs:

I’m not the biggest wizard at log reading, but this looks like exactly what I was talking about on my first reply here. Plex is seeing a limitation of 2 Mbps for the stream, it refactors the 10 Mbps video stream for transcoding, and then runs into the 7.1 channel audio, which it can’t play back in Chrome, and eventually you get 2 channel stereo downmix and 720x300 video.

So not sure if the user here really has not fixed his remote streaming quality settings, or if this is an issue with no direct remote access (I didn’t look too closely at the beginning logs where the server was booting up). If Remote Access is really failing out you need to get that fixed first, and I don’t know enough about your network setup to comment further. If you got your router from your ISP I’d be suspicious of it. I gotta go for now.

excuse me i have few probleme for communicate in english,

other user is just a test, the admin user is amb1099@protonmail.com

but the issue is similar with 2 users, if i connect me with my admin or other remote user on connexion public (WAN) my image quality is low in both cases (720p) but with any user on local conexion not problem , so the remote user is not problem for me, even if plex seeing a limitation (i have delete several time that’s has maybe delete preferences at same time) , my user admin has not a limitaion for the stream.

i think it’s just remote access has issue related to my router and yes my router is provided by my ISP,

thanks for help, at least i know already it’s not hardware who is linked all that
