Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395
Player Version#: 14921 (release/ios)
Since I upgraded from 1.3.4 version, I have a lot of issues with the remote access and overall stability. I have been running Plex for 3 years now and hardly had any issues, but after upgrading from 1.3.4 I have crashes, frequent loss of remote access etc. Overall it’s very unpredictable.
Hoping the latest build for 1.3.8 would address this, but it’s really down hill. None of the IOS clients (including Apple TV client - latest version) can connect, despite remote access appears to be available. Connecting from outside directly to the server on the WAN IP works, so the issue is really with the publishing in plex.tv/web
I kind of getting frustrated with the latest releases and despite I see many others having issues as well, these don’t seem to be addressed. I read in another that there was indeed a change in the way remote access is published (couldn’t find it in the release notes), clearly this causes a lot of issues, so please roll-back!
I am seeing the same thing with my Plex server. Its been running like clockwork for almost 3 years until this past week. I tried rolling back to a previous version but it’s still not working. I am assuming that’s because it was not a “clean” reinstall.
My plex server is running on a Win10 dedicated PC. I cannot stream from outside my house on any device nor can I stream from my Roku devices on my home network. Still working as expected on Xbox One and iOS when I am on my network.
After doing some research it seems to be a transcoder issue. If I play original quality things stream fine. Of course I cannot do that for all remote connections.
i have my remote acces fine open all times no issue always on green make sure you port forward TCP 32400 and UDP 32400 in you router. i run w10 64 bit to my plex is running fine on pc smart tv 4k and all consoles
Well it works fine directly, just not true plex.tv/web, so yes, firewall is configured properly and again, it was working fine up to version 1.3.4. Problems started since 1.3.5 release.
i also uninstalled auto update from google chrome so chrome can’t mess up chromecast again. just delete the update from the chrome folder im at Version 1.13.5.5332
I would like to see more examples of the problems (more logs) - but please run with debug logging enabled all the time. You enabled it in-flight at 21:20 on 23rd which means all the startup sequence is not properly logged
You do have a complex network with 4 subnets - 2 with interfaces named vlan0 and vlan1 and we ignore Network Interfaces with names starting with v
I do see some transient lockouts - where requests batch up and then get processed. I would need to see if is repeatable and not a one-off. Similarly an event relating to connectivity testing for remote access did not get processed till many seconds later.
Ideally would like a process dump captured during the time when requests are hung - this may be difficult if the lock is only for 30 or 40 seconds
If clients are failing to connect - i would like to see logs from the client apps as well -and also to know when the issue was.
The only logging i have with debug enabled is for
5 minutes from Sep 23, 2018 21:20 to 21:25
and then a relaunch of Plex Media Server and logs for
6 minutes from Sep 23, 2018 21:25 to 21:31
I have re-examined the logs now that an issue was found in the operation of pubsub servers where connectivity tests were not acted on immediately. I can see that now in the logs - a delay of about 90 seconds. The last problem was identified and fixed on October 14th at about 8am GMT
