Server Version#: 1.15.2.793 on Mac mini (Late 2012)
Player Version#: 1.39 on Apple TV 4
Since upgrading to 1.15.2.793, I noticed almost every time I visit the Settings page, I see a red exclamation mark next to the Remote Access link. When going into the Remote Access settings, it says “Not available outside your network”.
Clicking on Retry always restores the connectivity for a short period.
I didn’t have this issue with 1.15.2.791 and it started immediately after upgrading to 1.15.2.793.
Plex I give you time until monday to release a Update to solve the remote problem else I will rollback to version 1.14.1.5488.
And I want a statment why you release a not working version. Who is in charge to check the quality of a checkup. I would think about that this was his last day. It can’t be you relase a bug version like this where the BUG is just jumping into you face because the remote access ist not working.
Get finaly coders who are not sloppy, I want enjoy new features not BUGS !
And this bug is impossible to not recognize at start.
I think a compensation for all of us you should provide. I think about a $500 Amazon gift card compensation maybe then you learn you leason, of releasing bad software.
AND NOW PLEX TEAM … FIX IT… DO PAYLESS OVERTIME SO YOU CODERS LEARN THERE LEASSON ALSO !
I am new to plex and I am also having an absolutely horrible time with this. I have done everything under the sun to get it to work and it just wont. I have tried with and without VPN. I have tried default, as well as manual port forwarding. It will connect, and stay connected for about 3-5 seconds and then immediately disconnect. I have shut off firewalls and ad blockers and everything else. I literally pay a monthly fee to be able to access my media on my phone and tablet and I can’t (in a reasonable resolution) because no matter what I do, Plex will not work. I am VERY frustrated. And then I come to the forum and can’t even make a thread about it because I am new or whatever their restrictions are. I don’t know how to contact anyone at Plex to have a conversation to help resolve the issue. If anyone knows what I can do, please tell me. Thank you.
i have rolled back to version 1.13.9.5456 that i had in my downloads folder after the current update stuffed my plex. But this did not solve the issue has been 5 days now and still no word from plex . i bombared there facebook page and got a private message saying to come here and that was the last communication i have had . ill upload my logs once agian with the hope someone can offer some advice. With reports that the issue seems to go further back than I initially thought, I’ve changed the title of this thread from “1.15.2.793+ keeps losing remote access” to “Plex keeps losing remote access”.
With more an more people reporting the issue here, we’ll hopefully get the attention of the Plex team soon
I’m seeing the same thing on my Plex server. Noticed it for the first time 2 days ago when my remote player was doing a relay but then the relay stopped working too. Update to the latest plex pass build did not resolve. I can get to the server through the manual port forward on my firewall, where I can see the same “connect for a couple seconds and then fail” behavior in the settings.
Looking through the logs, I see a lot of errors saying:
I kind of suspect the issue is not with the Plex server per se, but with the connection to the Plex cloud/relay service. Wouldn’t be surprised if they updated a library in the cloud that stopped supporting some older TLS versions and not everyone’s server got the message (a total guess based on nothing more than a hunch).
I’m going to try disconnecting from my account and then reclaiming in the hopes that all new certs are generated during that process.
If that doesn’t work I will be sad/angry/watching HBO Now instead.
Thinking about it a little more, maybe country blocking at my firewall is causing the issue. I was changing a bunch of stuff in there recently. Better check what i did with ireland.
Yep, country blocking was at the root of my problem. I had allowed outbound to Ireland but blocked Inbound from there. I could see in my firewall logs that after the briefly successful enabling of remote access there was an inbound request from an Ireland IP address which got dropped by the firewall. It was at that point that the remote service failed.
Turning off inbound country blocking for Ireland made the problem go away for me.
It seems to work after updating to 1.15.5.994. I haven’t changed anything on my firewall but I updated Plex today and since then the remote access is staying up,
I check on my server (“check for updates”) and it says I’m up to date with 1.15.4.993. When I go to the downloads page on Plex.tv, it shows a download for 1.15.5.994. What’s up with that?
