Remote Access outside my local network was working, until recently I am unable to access my content outside my network. I wish I could pinpoint a point in time when it stopped working, but I’d guess within the last 6-8 months. Strange thing is, the remote access still shows as green in the Plex settings. Help!
could you get some diagnostics
First make sure debug logging is enabled
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
Then restart the server and open up the server remote access settings page - do not make any changes
Then try to access your server remotely - eg through mobile plex app with wifi disabled
Get a screenshot of any error and time of the error
Then collect the server logs and attach with the screenshot / other info

There is some algorithm for new users - i think you have to spend a few minute first reading forum posts before you are allowed to add attachments
I have been looking at the logs. There may be a number of contributing factors to the issue
First I would like to understand how the IP address for the server is setup. I am seeing 192.168.1.2 and also some evidence of 192.168.1.21
Is it static IP on the MAC ?
Is it within the DHCP Range in the router setting ? or outside the DHCP Range
Was 192.168.1.21 before changing to 192.168.1.2 ?
Is there a DHCP reservation for it on the router ?
Or may be the mac perhaps has two network interfaces - eg ethernet and wifi and sometimes you have the wifi active ?
This gives the clue

So this is one factor - Ensure you never have more than one network interface active on the mac if you are using automatic port mapping. there are changes that are being worked on and will be released shortly that would help with this - but for now, ensure only one network interface and make sure it is static outside DHCP range or if within DHCP Range to be also DHCP Reserved
The other factor is that your internet and DNS seem to go up and down all the time - and some notifications to plex.tv are failing to be sent out - so client apps and remote users may not know the route to your server
This shows the network and DNS failures - error 6 is DNS lookup failure

The third factor is that using automatic port configuration relies on the router uPnP functionality and its responsiveness to SSDP UDP packets. This may result in the server keeping on trying to map a new port when it checks periodcally. If the router does not respond to an SSDP request or too slow - then we may try to reset the port mapping

So advice here would be to switch to having a port forward in the router to forward a public port to tcp port 32400 to the IP address of the server and it needs to be fixed and then to tick manually specify port and enter the public port number
Thank you for your assistance. I believe I’ve got port forwarding set up properly now, but remote access still doesn’t work (even though it’s still showing all green in settings). I’ve attached another set of logs, please let me know what you think. That must be a clue. What exactly do you mean by not being able to login ? Do you mean within Plex for iOS app on the phone, if you try to sign in to plex.tv it fails?
You do need to be authenticated and signed in to see the server
Also you appear to have secure connections disabled on the server, Some plex apps may need to have the setting of the app changed to allow fallback to insecure connections
It appears to be all set now, Cellular Data was disabled on my Plex app. This is why I was unable to log into the app while off the network. Thanks again!
