I’m running plex on a synology nas. And after installing the latest version over the weekend. Remote access suddenly keeps stopping. Before the update it worked perfectly for the last 3 months. I haven’t changed any setting and tried redownloaded the previous version but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated
Router firewall rule and the port remote Plex is configured to use are often the root cause for remote issues. Have you created a port forwarding rule+confirmed it is still active on your router/firewall. I understand the timing with the upgrade have you looking at the PMS, but it is always worth checking the basics. it the rule is there you can then use web based tool to see if the port is open on your firewall.
I’m having the same issue since upgrading from 1.14 to 1.15. I can access it locally, but not outside of our local network. Port forwarding didn’t change during the upgrade. I reinstalled a previous copy of 1.14 and It worked again. What settings are different in 1.15 for remote access?
Makes me think you both might be using uPNP.
Maybe they broke the Upnp negotiation? In fact there is a long thread on here about 1.15 UPNP being broken and leading to increased PMP CPU usage, for a specific UPNP daemon, OpenWRT I think it is?
I do my firewall rules manually, disable UPNP, and my 4 plex servers are still available.
before changing anything. i forgot to mention that i also run synology in house media player DS Video (dose similar job) and various other synology apps and that works fine outside of my network. which makes me wonder more there was something in the update that has stopped it working.
