Remote Access to Plex Behind Bridged ISP Router

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#:
Hello Guys,

I set my ISP’s router to bridge mode and my Plex server on a QNap storage cannot enable remote access anymore.
The private and public IPs are OK, I tried with UPnP and static NAT too, but the system still says, “Not available outside your network”. When I enable the remote access, it is green for a couple of seconds, then goes red again.
It was OK with double NAT before, but I wanted to be behind only one NAT because XBox has restricted internet support behind double NAT.
Also my router show 2 IPs on the WAN interface, like:

MAC Address AC:9E:17:7B:76:A1
Connection Type PPPoE
IP Address 88.x.y.z (DHCP: 192.168.1.33)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway 192.168.144.1 (DHCP: 192.168.1.1)
DNS 192.168.1.1:53,8.8.8.8:53,80.58.61.250:53,80.58.61.254:53
MTU 1492

I don’t actually know if this is normal, or can have an effect on this. I cannot telnet to the IP 88.x.y.z on the port 32400, but on the IP 192.168.1.33 it works, although I can ping 88.x.y.z without any issue, and other services are working through it.

All the 192.168 addresses are internal on the LAN only, you only have one WAN address (the 88.x.y.z one, you probably want to blur that screenshot of your exact IP address btw and edit your post before you invite half the world to bruteforce their way in).

You can’t telnet to this ip address on port 32400 because there’s no telnet server listening on that port, Plex is listening on that port. If you connect from the outside to https://88.x.y.z:32400/web , that would be a good check if these ports are indeed open/mapped correctly all the way through.

If you can’t reach that address (you should get the Plex login page), then you verify if the router mapped ports are correct, go into the webinterface of the router and map TCP port 32400 external to port 32400 on the ip address of the NAS where the server’s running. In the Plex server settings, manually set the port to 32400 too.

Good advice, Blank out your WAN IP address on the above post is highly recommended. 88.z.y.x

Hate to see your Xmas ruined by some Internet Bad Guys.

Thank you for the response. My external IP has been changed by the ISP already. It seems they renew it quite often. I managed to make it work to use DMZ host my own router in the ISP’s router instead of the bridge mode instead. Now both the Plex and XBox are working well.
