Remote Access

I keep trying to set up remote access and it shows access in green then five seconds later turns off in Red? I have followed the directions with no luck. Could it be my router/modem?

Possibly. Describe your network set up. Do you have more than one router. Is it a router+modem combo device like most ISP give? Are you using UPnP or did you manually port forward?

What ISP do you have? Someone else might have the same ISP and same device.

Router/Modem from Spectrum 2.4/5.0 internet. 400/20 speed. The UPnP is checked but I get the remote access setup then it turns to red. I have an Arris router and Hitron modem.

I am in the USA

Are you in the UK? I have this every time I upgrade or restart. However remote access is there and the it goes green permanently after a day.

I am not using uPNP (it was OK when I did use uPNP).

agh, I was thinking maybe we had the same routers or something.

I have given up about four times now and this time is the only time I have gotten this far. If I can figure out remote access I am golden.

so are you trying to use uPNP or do it manually?

ands do you know it is actually not working (ignoring the red sign which isn’t always accurate)?

I didn’t know Arris made just routers. I thought they were all combo devices. How are things connected in the chain?

Wall<->Hitron<->Arris<->Computer?

I am still having trouble with the remote access wish there was a book plex for dummies

I am having the same problem as some of these other users. Can’t get Remote Access to stay more than 5 seconds. I’m at a loss trying to follow some of these fixes? Just installed a Netgear Orbi router, I had remote access working fine on my old router. I don’t want to mess up any settings in my router and though I’m above average in many computer related issues, routers are an animal I don’t have experience with.

Hi, I have the same issue. But, I can access my server remotely once even though it says I can’t. But, after the first time I can’t. It has to be a bug in Plex.

I had the same issue. Found out that it was my ISP modem/bridge. I had to forward port 32400 and once done it worked. If you have 2 modems, one from ISP and your own you must port forward on both. Otherwise it will not work.
