From not having any issues in the past I appear to be unable to access or use the remote server. I’m running off windows 10 using the plex app and using the most up to date BT hub. I didn’t have any issues 7 months ago but recently the remote server keeps dropping out. I have tried manually whether I’m doing that correctly and yet that’s not helping. What has changed since all was OK 7 months ago until recently trying to use it and being unable to.
What could I be doing wrong?
There’s been no significant server change to the remote access functionality.
As for what might be wrong you’re leaving us guessing… would you mind sharing some more details about your setup, e.g.
what version of PMS do you have installed on your server?
how have you configured your remote access / anything specific about your setup?
have you already tried the remote access troubleshooting steps?
if you’re currently relying on a UPnP (automatic port forwarding)… try to replace that with a manual forward – in my experience those are more reliable; then check if you can access the router’s public ip and the specified public tcp port of your port forward from outside the server’s network
I’m having the same issue, remote access has been working for me for months/years, now it’s not. I use a manually specified port, and the port is verified open from the outside, nothing has changed with my firewall/router. In fact, I can have the pms settings window tell me remote access is confirmed working, then a plex web window right next to it saying a secure connection to the server is not available (the server secure setting is set to preferred). The main change is that I just updated the pms version, as it hadn’t been updated in quite some time. Are there downgrade versions available for pms? I’d like to try going back to an older release.

I have checked it says it can’t reachx the port reques time out. Why is it doing this. None of my friends cant access. I’ve chedked my router and its defintely on… what else ca. I do
If you cannot see/access the port from outside your home network, this implies the issue is between your ISP and (including) your router.
Double-check if the router’s manual port forward is still active and properly configured.
Next you could try to change your port forward to use a different public port (assuming your ISP might be filtering specific port ranges). If you cannot get another port to work you might need to contact your ISP to ask them if they’re blocking/filtering your server and (if they do) if they’re willing to unblock that for your system.
side quest: can you verify your server actually got a publicly accessible public IP address from your ISP? Some ISPs have moved their networks to CGNAT which will give your router a private IP address that’s not accessible from outside your ISP’s network.
