Remote acess disables after a few days

I have had plex for some time now with no issues, but for the past month or so Remote Access Not available outside your network keeps popping up, I have tried Uninstalling , Removing it from the registery and re-installing, It will function for 1-7 days, which afterwards will show the same error in the settings of NOT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE YOUR NETWORK… Its driving me insane, I have not changed any Router settings, No New Anti-Virus , Can someone please help!

Routers are sometimes updated with new firmware. Sometimes this is done by your ISP for you. And sometimes this new firmware changes the behaviour of the router.
The change in this case is that
port-forwardings which were created by the router on request of a device on your home network are now getting destroyed after a while.
The intention is tightening of security. However, for Plex this is ill-advised, since it needs to have this port-forwarding not just for hours or days, but much much longer.

Therefore the only cure is either

  • restarting Plex Server every few days (who wants to do this…)
  • creating the necessary portforwarding by hand in the settings of the router and tell Plex to use it
