Hi all, general question here. Testing from two remote locations, same country, same setup, Plex Pass accounts, both Plex servers have 11th and 12th gen i5 intel CPU, 500Mb/s upload.
When we remote play, it says direct play but it would stutter, pause, stop, downscale.
Especially 4k, 1080p has it’s moments.
Why won’t this play without an issue?
Do the files play fine locally?
What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that remote playback on the Plex server dashboard?

Like a dream locally, full atmos via receiver.
During remote playback it does show direct play.
Can you verify the download bandwidth of your remote network and if there’s any bandwidth issues in the remote LAN (e.g. are you using a wired or wireless connection to the SHIELD)?
Yep, download is on 500Mb/s up and down. Shield has LAN. No matter how we test it between a bunch of our buddies, same issue for everyone from our different servers.
