I’ve been happily using Plex remotely for the last couple of months since I moved house and got a new modem/internet connection until last night it borked and now I cannot get anything remote to work properly.
The current experience:
In-network - flawless
Remote - I can now browse my collection but nothing will play.
The experience over the past 24 hours:
In-network - flawless
Remote - ranging from no connectivity at all, to being able to see my On Deck list but nothing else, to the same as above - can sometimes browse the collection but nothing will actually play.
I have my server set up with:
- Static IP for the computer
- Ports forwarded on router including 32400 to the computer
- Ports forwarded on the computer’s firewall including 32400
- Plex Remote Access with manually specified port of 32400
Other tidbits:
- canyouseeme.org confirms that the port is visible for my public IP.
- I can successfully used remote desktop to connect in to the same computer (obviously different port) which shows that the remote connectivity seems fine.
- connection speed to the computer shows 925Mbps down, 45Mbps up
- I temporarily disabled my local firewall and have the same results.
- I rebooted machine, restarted Plex, rebooted modem/router. All no effect.
Any other ideas for me to try?
(there’s no weird limit in terms of number of media files or something is there? I do have quite a lot of files - in one collection I have just over 50K media files across 2K folders)
Thanks people - you rock.
