Plex lifetime pass holder, used Plex for over three years but not had trouble like this since I used it and getting really fed up with it now. Remote access just keeps dropping out constantly.
When I restart the remote access it stays on for about a minute and then just drops out again. What can I do to stop this happening? It’s not any settings front end but I wouldn’t really knwo where to start diagnosing back end issues. I’ve tried it with port forwarding off (usual setting) and on but it makes no difference.
Something must have changed in the latest updates by Plex because it’s been plain sailing before this.
I’ve switched from TalkTalk to EE recently and only had issues since switching. I’m guessing it’s something to do with the IP not being static but I’m struggling to know where or how to assign a static IP. How do I do this?
That depends on which IP you’re referring to.
The local IP of your server should be static. You can either set a fixed IP in the properties of the network adapter or use your router’s configuration to reserve one via “DHCP reservation”.
The public IP of your internet connection doesn’t have to be static, necessarily. (although it helps). Only your ISP can give you a static IP. But they usually want more money for this.
