I’m having an issue where all my remote streams are in SD. I even set all my streaming devices to max quality and it still gets knocked down to SD quality. I also have my server set to no limits on the streaming bandwidth. So I’m unsure what is going wrong or maybe I’m reading the data incorrectly. Here is a screen grab from Tautulli of two streams from Chrome and Roku:
Do you have some custom network settings or set up? Why does it think your Roku is on 127.0.0.1 and think that is WAN. I don’t use Tautulli ,does it show the same in the Web app dashboard for IP. Is auto quality set in either app?
Looks like you’re connecting via Plex Relay, which is limited to 2 Mbps for Plex Pass accounts. As @BigWheel mentions, look in Plex Dashboard -> Now Playing. If the connection is shown as Indirect, then it is via Plex Relay.

If you are connecting via Plex Relay, then Remote Access is not working correctly.
@FordGuy61 & @BigWheel Thanks for the replies. I do suspect that my remote access is setup incorrectly since I recently got a new modem and router and was having connect issues since then. It cleared up, but the quality was bad. I’m just now getting around to debugging it. It looks like something on Plex’s end is down so I’m unable to test things at the moment. But once they’re back I’ll go through the trouble shooting link and see if I can clear it up. If not I’ll post my issues here for extra support.
So I’m testing from my phone that’s not connected to my wifi. It is definitely playing as indirect. But I did the steps in the Troubleshooting link. When I test the connection it will show as Fully accessible outside your network. But if I refresh the page it will then say Not available outside your network. So I’m not really sure what is going wrong here. The set up is pretty simple and straightforward so I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve also tried it with and without port forwarding but I get the same results. At this point I’m at a loss and the Troubleshooting links aren’t helping me.
You can use https://canyouseeme.org/ to test remote access connectivity from the same network as your Plex server. Enter your Plex streaming port (ex: 32400) instead of the default port 80.
You can also use Uptime Robot, https://uptimerobot.com/ to monitor remote access. It checks on a repetitive basis (default 5 min) and sends an e-mail if it cannot reach your server. The free account supports up to 50 active monitors.
For both of above your Plex server must be running with remote access enabled to have a successful test.
