I have an old server that no longer exists, but it shows up on my current server. How do I delete this old server.
Remove it from your list of Authorized Devices.
Not on my list of “authorized devices”, the old server shows up in the Left hand column, when I select “More” from the Pinned list. I have two identically named servers, one is defunct, the other active. I obviously want to kill the defunct one.
You failed to mention that the server in question is not yours.
To stop using a shared server:
- go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/users-sharing
- click on the user name who is the owner of the shared server
- make sure you are on the tab “Shared Libraries”, scroll down to “Shared with you”.
- Now “Edit” the old server and click on “Leave Server”
If the owner of the shared server has named both the new and the old server the same, ask him to change the “friendly name” of the new server to make them distinguishable.
Or ask him to delete the old server on his side, by going to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms
Otto - Thanks, those steps of yours cured the issue, with slight modification for the latest version of Plex I’m using. My friend shares my libraries and I share his, so it was a matter of looking for the named server that did not take sense in his list and deleting it. Then I did a web page refresh and bingo, the bad server vanished.
Thanks again!
