I use Filebot to rename all of my video files so in the directory the name appears correct. However when looking up a movie on my plex server, I see a number of files that while the name of the file in the directory in correct, somehow it is going to the comments section of the file and pulling that name. I accidently found this when looking at file properties. For a couple of files going in and removing this data is fine. I have more that a couple unfortunately and was hoping that someone knew of a program that will remove this data. Thank you in advance for your help.
mp3tag allows you to take a whole folder full of files and remove or add or edit any number of meta tags.
With video files, this however may require the whole files to be rewritten, so expect it to take quite a while – particlarly when using a slow-ish NAS device over the network.
You’ll want to disable Local Media Assets so that Plex doesn’t use the media title property as display name:
