Request for Roku Feedback ver 8.5.9+

IMMEDIATE ATTENTION: From absolutely everywhere across the internet in the limited amount of time ive seen. Roll back or give an option for version theme selection. this new one is bad. i have not seen one positive thing mentioned about it yet.

The new ā€œexperienceā€ just dropped on my Roku, and I have to say that I’m NOT a fan. You’ve managed to make browsing my Libraries about 10x harder than it needs to be. You’ve switched the menus around so they’re just ā€œbackwardsā€ in my mind. And I appear to be having a challenge where I’ll access a TV Show… and the first option in the list is actually a ā€œSeasonā€ square… which serves no purpose… and then when I get my episode playing, I cannot fast forward or reverse.

Can we just have a ā€œuse the old experienceā€ option while you guys work out the bugs, please? I can’t tell you how much I LOATHE this ā€œnew experienceā€.

Right? What is the point of the Season square? It’s more confusing than anything. The TV section is just a mess.

Please for the love of god:

  • Allows us to select to open to a specific library, NOT a ā€œhome screenā€ on opening the app
  • Put each library in the top navigation bar to quickly select, not some dropdown that I have to select a library from (there’s so much space there anyways it’s stupid)

That way you’d immediately solve a majority of my absolute frustration and ire over having to menu surf so hard to access my stuff.

Please revert to the old layout or at least give the option to re-layout the home screen and move the options to the left. Plus the goal for an update is to speed up the interface, not slow it down. Just a future tip.

I have not logged into Plex forums for a while, I haven’t had a need. The Roku client worked. I load it and the things I want to keep running are there.

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR LIVE TV CRAP. STOP SHOVING IT DOWN OUR THROATS.

This is a TERRIBLE update. I want to resume what I’ve been watching. Might be TV, might be Movies. So now I get to go up and select libraries (ALL I EVER USE) and now I get to decide what I’m resuming. Was it TV or Movies? Guess I get to toggle back and forth. This is SO STUPID.

I haven’t looked for Plex alternatives. This stays and I’m looking. This is TERRIBLE.

Beyond terrible. I’m flabbergasted. I’ve never seen such a big swing and a miss. It was fine how it was. Like are you guys ok? Who made you do this? Cause we can help you. We can. get you away from them.

I’ve never felt the need to comment on anything before. Had a lifetime pass for 5 years. Been using it for longer than that. Never felt the need to complain, even through I’ve had lots of minor disagreements on the way things have progressed in the last 5 years. (That logo change was bad) But tonight? I’m considering moving to another service for good. Like I’m checking into options if this update isn’t rolled back. I know I’m not the only one.

I have my son’s Plex open and every other one password protected.

I control what he can see from our libraries by a tag. Now he can watch EVERY DAMN THING FROM LIVE TV? Are you freaking kidding me?

I guess I’m off to test Jellyfin as well. I have never seen an update switch from useful to terrible, but also take away all the functionality we rely on for controlling media we allow our child to see. AND NO WAY TO REMOVE LIVE TV BEING GIVEN TO OUR SON.

In the past we had to at least enter the Roku password to view live tv. Plex is like, Hold my beer, lets show everything to kids.

I’ve honestly tried to search for a more disabling update to a product.

How do we roll back to the prior version, this is a complete joke as far as UI goes. I have super upset little children who can no longer find their shows or navigate this abysmal UX. My Roku TVs are basically useless now as all the content for the kids cant be accessed by them. The fact that there is no warning that this insane change is in the update or opt out is insane to me.

Roll this garbage back into the garbage can it came out of, or at the VERY LEAST change the roku channel version back to the prior one while you sort out this dumpster fire, as this has been a hell of a day with trying to troubleshoot this.

I have never experienced something so awful. The new UI is unusable, I can’t find my library content. I have literally no desire to see the roku livetv, on demand or anything else not in my local library.
Every update has gotten significantly worse with this being the straw that broke the camels back. It is clear that the UI designers are dei, AI, or outsourced from india and have never actually used the product. Plex should be ashamed (and to think I paid for this product)

Can we please have an option for it to look and act like it did before?

I hate the feel of the interface. Having all of my libraries in the sidebar worked for me. Pinning and unpinning libraries was straight forward, and done already. Now the side stroller is annoying garbage, and I have to repin half my libraries.

I am begging you, bring back the old interface.

Plex has been destroyed under Keith & Scott’s leadership. I no longer have confidence in the product. From data privacy violations, to security breaches, to senseless UI overhauls, enough is enough.

CHANGE IT BACK! This new UI is one of the worst user interfaces Ive ever seen. If I did this to my customers in my job I would be FIRED and walked out the door. You guys obviously don’t intend to keep your customers or even exist as a company for much longer, do you?

The devs responsible for the Roku ā€œNew Experienceā€ need to be fired and interface reverted back to the old one, or AT MINIMUM give us the option to revert it back.

Ill be downloading Jellyfin myself. This was the last straw. Taking a perfectly decent UI and making it completely unuseable, with no way to opt out of it means they they have no intention of actually retaining customers in any meaningful way. The devs have to be on crack or high on something to think this is in any way ā€œgoodā€, right? At least that would give us a plausible explanation for this dog#$%.

My Roku is on a widescreen television controlled by a remote. The top menu is clearly designed for a vertical phone controlled by touch. It is a huge burden to use compared to the classic sidebar.

I understand the advantages of streamlining development between phone and TV apps but the UX is hideous. This is not a workable TV app.

Every poster is too large. There is far less information on my screen than there used to be. Scrolling is constant.

RIght?! This looks straight up stupid on a 110ā€+ theater display. like a giant tablet app that had very little thought put into it. Im going to have to switch to Jellyfin or Emby after this. I just cant do this.

The new Roku experience Is hot garbage. I paid for a lifetime pass. I don’t want to use live TV or the discover feature. Put my libraries back on the left side and let me organize the display the way I want.

This is a hot mess of everything I do not want to see. I had a great handle on what my kid account could see and you broke that.

WHY??? I’m furious. I had the kid accounts all locked to kid friendly only and now there’s live tv and NFL (screw the NFL my daughter doesn’t give a damn about live sports) and you’re forcing this mess on us.

PUT IT BACK.
