ok. sad news.
i maked the subtitle part of the video (didn't burn it, just part of it). in vlc and stiff like that all good but in the atv from home sharing when holding the middle button and choosing hebrew it's like in plexconnect :(
but, maybe you can add a setting to plexconnect, if convert subtitle to TX3G or not.
this should solve it .. cause in this format everything of course working ..
i don't think it uses the native atv player for subtitles cause in the plexconnect settings you can change the subtitles size, which apple doesn't let noramally do (i read a lot about that ;) )
anyway, i'm adding a hebrew srt to a movie with handbrake. not burning it, just adding so it'll part of it but not burned. than, in home sharing when holding the center button i should have hebrew subtitle choise and i'll tell you how it shows it :)

Forget HB for a while. Use Subler - 1) open MP4/MKV 2) add SRT subtitle 3) save new file 4) deep scan it in PMS so that it recognise changed file

i think it shows the subtitles with not native player cause apple doesn't let us choose subtitle size and plexconnect does.
anyway, as you probably know, it's a bit hard doing this for each one of hundreds of episodes and movies i have, so if in the settings there was-convert srt to tx3g true/false it was mor than awesome.

Yes, this is possible using Home Sharing and it is quite easy but you have to correct the text encoding AND the writing direction for correctly positioning the punctuation of your subtitles files. Here's the steps:
1. get your subtitles from Torec or such.
2. open the subtitle with TextEdit and select "Hebrew (Windows)" encoding (not the automatic one)
3. Under "text direction", select LEFT TO RIGHT (and not the opposite) this will correctly positioning the punctuation
4. save your .srt with a Unicode encoding (UTF-8) - hint: press alt when opening the file menu to get the "save as..." option
5. Mux your iTunes formatted video with your srt with iSubtitle ($20 on the MacApp Store) - This will create a virtual subtitle and will not burn it into the picture (no re-encoding and no lost in quality) It's the same method Apple uses for its movies on its store - If you wish you can also populate your metadata and posters there.
6. Import the result into iTunes and your movie/series will be available immediately on your Apple TV.
All the steps all together shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 minutes.
If you have mkv files, Subler will remux them in an iTunes compatible format.
Btw, PlexConnect does use the native ATV player. The subtitle is being burn in real time on the video by PMS. You might also want to check the corrected subtitle files with PlexConnect. It should work ok too.

i already did it with handbrake and reported that it's like in plexconnect :(
but if plexconnect will give an option to convert subtitles to tx3g, won't if fix it ? if it's working in tx3g from itunes store, why doesn't it work in home sharing ?
or is there a way to finally choose charest in pms/plexconnect ?
