???! What do you mean. If you have embeded or external subs with your videos they will be shown.
of course they will, but not in the native player-but by plexconnect player or however i should call it.
it's known that pms not working well with non-english subtitles .. except of the fact it's need the language name in the file name after that in hebrew for example the . , ! ? @ are not in the right place ..
but the atv actually supports almost every subtitle language, so if there was an option for showing subtitles by native player/plex (like now) i could see the subtitles well and many more ..
and i know that plex not using the native player now to show subtitles is because apple blocked the option to change subtitles size which plex gives you, and the fact that it's not working well with subtitles languages atv supports naturally.
for example, after adding heb to the subtitle name and plex recognises it as hebrew it shown like that:
חבל שהתרגומים לא עובדים טוב... זה יכל להיות נחמד !
אוף,
when is should seen like this:(and the atv native player will show it like this):
i made a screenshot cause plex forum doesn't support hebrew (what makes sense cause it's forum in english):
Subtitles will be shown by the native player if the subtitles are compatible, if not then you can hope they can get burned in by the PMS.
The problem is not the application but the subtitles are not in the right format for either the native player or PMS.
You need to read the subtitle section of the Plex wiki.
it's a normal hebrew srt with heb in the name and plexconnect/plex web still shows it like i showed in post #3.
apple tv native player does support hebrew subtitles, cause they selling movies with hebrew subtitles .. and if i use beamer app (google it) hebrew srt's works awesome like i bought the movie.
Use an app like isubtitle or subler to remux a file with the srt?
THAT'S NOT WHAT HE meant.
if i will make the subtitles in the video, of course it'll show it good in every player but i can't do it to hundreds of movies and episodes.
guys-trust me:
native apple tv player will show subtitles good. atv supports hebrew subtitles, it's listed and there are movies in itunes store with hebrew subtitles.
i know that the subtitles in plexconnect now not shown by the native player, not only cause it's not well with hebrew but because you can change subtitles size, which apple doesn't let.
i know it too cause with beamer app when adding hebrew srt apple tv shows it as it should, and beamer doesn't do any transcoding or something like that. this is beamer.
if there will be an option to show subtitles like no with plexconnect/native it'll be great for everyone.
the ones that are using the english subtitles with stay with plex cause they'll be able to change the size and some like me who uses hebrew will have perfect subtitles. without size change but it's all about the subtitles right ? ;)
Please don't yell. You asked how to use an external srt in home sharing and I answered your question. If that is not what you really wanted to know, fine.

i'm not yelling :)
but that will not check if apple tv native player works with hebrew subtitles. i showed you in post #9 many ways to know that apple tv supports hebrew srt's with native player and prooved that i'm 100 % sure that the subtitles now playing with plex.
is there a way to show mp4 movie with srt in home sharing ? cause put it as part of the video of course will now help-it'll be part of the video which means that of course it'll look good.
If you cannot play the subs in home sharing then they are either not supported or have to be supported by PMS and transcoding.
If not you are out of luck and will have to remux them yourself.

We do not support iTunes in this forum.
You need to go and ask in the Apple forums.
If it is able to show the movie through home sharing with subtitles, you need to test it and show it to be true.
Then and only then if when you try it on PlexConnect and you cannot see the subs you can post back here to let us know you have an issue.
Until then i would suggest that you wait before posting anything more about subtitles in the PlexConnect forum (i can see that you have opened 4+ threads in the space of about 24 hours on subtitles across the various Plex forums).

ok.
and i'm seeing the subtitles in plexconnect, but the . , ! ? @ not in the right place, like i explained in post #3
i will report here but i don't think there's a way to show mp4 movies with srt ..
doesn't the fact that in the israeli itunes store there are movies with hebrew subtitles, which of course shown good ?
I know the iTunes store has movies with subtitles it does not necessarily mean anything (the subs could be in an entirely different format so you are not making a proper comparison).

thanks :)
People here are trying to help. Please, accommodate your wording so that it shows you appreciate that :)
PlexConnect is using ATV native player - it is just intermediate app between ATV and PMS. Data it gets from PMS is sent to ATV native player.
ATV native player is happiest if you use Apple supported subs - tx3g. If you convert your SRT files to that format they will show up the way you want them. I suppose that is what Beamer is doing - converting SRT to TX3G on-the-fly.

i don't think it uses the native atv player for subtitles cause in the plexconnect settings you can change the subtitles size, which apple doesn't let noramally do (i read a lot about that ;) )
anyway, i'm adding a hebrew srt to a movie with handbrake. not burning it, just adding so it'll part of it but not burned. than, in home sharing when holding the center button i should have hebrew subtitle choise and i'll tell you how it shows it :)
I still suggest using Subler for adding srt to video if you are not transcoding the file as well. It remuxes within a minute or so, and is also free to use.

It only lets you do this for transcoded movies with subtitles the PMS supports.
For native files that are direct played that setting has no effect (if you want to change native file subtitle size you will have to wait until iOS7 comes out).
