not sure what “task bar” you’re talking about?!

the menu bar when you hit the ok button on remote it brings up the play and pause bar you see the info clock but not resolution on bottom right corner just above the yellow bar

I think the update did something because everything was fine before the up date I have another android device that got updated to and same problem i’m having on my shield no info on video quality

PS you might want to check the developers unit because other people have commented on this issue I have a lower version of plex on my other android device and thats fine it shows the option of the video quality the update from the google playstore may have done something because everything was fine before the update

Got it… the on-screen menu
It’s still showing for me but my Sony is still on Plex for Android 8.15.2. Version 8.16.0 has not yet found its way to me.

is there a way that you can roll back to the previous version that was working for before the update I have a older version and thats fine I uninstalled it to the bare bone on my shield meaning the update and it’s ugly version bu it shows the video quality it just when you udate then you don’t i’m trying to find a lower version i very sure that the update did something because everything was fine before

this when you un-install the app of andoid go to the old version Screenshot by Lightshot
but the update doesn’t show anymore look there’s a screentshot

and this is a lower version on my other android box and you suppose to get the video quality and no it’s not a server problem on my side because this version works

this is now when you update from google playstore you don’t get the video quality info

Plex client version 8.15.3.24332 on Amazon FireTV Stick 4K: “HD 1080p” appears in lower right corner, above the progress bar.

Plex client version 8.16.0.24423 (beta) on Shield TV: “HD 1080p” does not appears in lower right corner, above the progress bar.

The extremely useful, totally awesome, loved by all who used it information overlay in the upper left corner showing size, direct play/transcode, etc disappeared over a year ago when the new Android player was rolled out. The new player is now the default and it is no longer possible to switch back to the old player in the app settings.

Plex has teased bringing the information overlay back, but unfortunately has yet to do so. You can see some, but not all, of the same information by selecting the three vertical dots below the progress bar and choosing Playback Information.

You can sideload different versions of the Plex android app if desired. Google “Shield sideload”, “FireStick sideload”, etc for details. You can pull the APK from the Plex for Android announcement thread. You’ll also need the Downloader app from the Google or Amazon app stores.

When you size load an app you no longer receive updates via the app store. You will have to sideload any subsequent updates as well. To return to receiving updates from the app store, simply delete the sideloaded version and download the latest version from the applicable app store.

Thanks for the info it was a nice perk to have but I can go to more info or go to playback it’s just nice to have to know you have authentic quality viewing but I’ll check it out what you recommend thanks for the reply much appreciated

Marko
