I have a few Firesticks all running Plex and within the past few days notice that Resume playback on all devices fails to resume, instead starting any file from the start.
I too have the same problem on one of my FireTVs. This happened as soon as I updated the FireTV firmware as prompted.
The other FireTVs are working fine as I have not updated their firmware.
It appears there maybe a bug between the latest FireTV firmware and the Plex app

I have just checked on the device with the issue and there is another firmware update - only a couple of days after last one.
I’ve installed this and it appears to have resolved the issue.

What version are you now running?
I have the latest plex client version available on the Amazon app store and I still can’t get resume to work.
I’m also stuck with only a dozen items in continue watching.
I am running the latest Beta version of Plex but I am unsure whether it was this that caused the issue or the updating of the firmware on the FireTV.
As I said earlier I went into the settings on the FireTV and there was another upgrade to the firmware available. I did this and it appeared to resolve the issue with the Resume.
However, I have noticed that I select Resume too quickly after going onto the programmes page then it fails and starts from the beginning.
I suggest you check that there is no firmware update pending for your device. If there is update. Otherwise wait a few seconds on the programmes page before you select the Resume button.

I’m on the latest beta version of the Plex server too.
My Fire OS is the latest version on both my Fire Stick and Fire TV box. I’ve manually installed the latest version of the Plex apk as the version in the Amazon App store was 8.15.0 and the latest release version is 8.15.2.
Resume still doesn’t work. I thought it was a timing issue too but even if I wait a few seconds 9 times out of 10 it still starts from the beginning.

Agreed!!! I have this on all of my Firesticks (Andriod and Ruku TV work fine). We need a rollback feature to “uninstall” the recent updates.
Same problem on my shield and mibox. The problems with Plex are building on top of each other every week. First it was video artifacts require me to transcode all my direct play videos, “unable to navigate” error, now resume not working, What’s next!?! Are devs listening?
