I am having problems with playback of HD (720p and 1080i) recordings on my Roku with latest release server. When play or resume is pressed, I get the twirling 33% for a very long time until it gives up with “Unexpected error”. I tried beta v.1.42.2.10102 and it is even worse, claiming I don’t have enough CPU to transcode. It’s running on an i7-12700K and never had a problem running multiple playback streams before now. 480i recordings play just fine.

I rolled back to version 1.42.0.9975 and all works as it should. When I have a chance I will update and get logs.

After trying various server builds, I am convinced that it is a Roku specific app problem. Windows Plex app works flawlessly. Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, I’ve seen this. I changed my Roku Plex app playback settings to allow MPEG2 so the server direct streams and the LiveTV experience is much more enjoyable. Mine’s running on a i5-14500 that isn’t doing much of anything else most of the time. I think I’ll next upgrade to a Roku Ultra and then everything will be hardwired (sometimes get some trouble over wifi with the dense MPEG2).

Seems that I Need to have Allow MPEG2 checked and ignore the warning. Experimental 1080p MPEG2 checked fails after a few seconds of playback.
