To start, could you please provide the version that your Plex Media Server is on?

Plex Media Server Logs_2025-09-18_14-31-18.zip (5.4 MB)
Logs for just now since new UI everything was going great now nothing hardly plays nothing has changed for me other than the new update
Based on those errors, I am guessing this might be a server issue and not something related to the Roku app. I will need to pass this along to server folks to see if they can help in any way here
Just a quick note - 4.147.1 is the version of a web client - not your Plex Media Server version. That should look something like Version 1.42.1.10060
I guess I’m the only one who remembers when Plex used to have a classic and new version of their apps back when they released the last redesign. That’s really not that difficult to do. Just tell users no updates on the classic but it is available for those who want it.
They don’t care about us anymore, that’s become perfectly clear. I would be willing to bet a lot of money on the fact that some investor pumped a lot of money into this redesign and demanded that it be released by Q4 of this year.
They have been testing this garbage since May, they have known about the bugs, they acknowledge that they are being worked on, yet they still push out a completely broken app to thousands of users with no warning. No instructions. Nothing.
What they should have done was renamed the old app to Plex classic, released this new app as a completely new build, emailed everybody with notice of all the changes and places that things got moved to. And then actually taken the original constructive feedback and applied it.
Instead, they said nope, we gotta do what the people with the deep pocket say.
Hey @Jprez420 real quick could you confirm one more item for me here? What OS version is your Roku on? To get this info, on your Roku home screen go to Settings → System → About → and it is the Software Version field.
Ignore - I see that that info was already provided here
I think the top bar works ok.. if you only had one or two libraries. Many of us power users have more than that and like splitting our library up into mulitple parts. I think thats where the real issue comes in.
But when there are sub menus on a sub menu, it just makes it so much more confusing.
Congrats on an epic failure of a roll-out.
Yet another corporate disaster that Plex is doubling down on, instead of giving the customer base what they want. I can’t even call it polarizing, as everyone I have talked to absolutely hates it - as an astonishing number of online users do as well.
I am fortunate that I only have 1 Roku in my home, in the spare bedroom. I love Plex - the features - the ability to easily view my media library - but if this UI comes to other devices, I will sadly be forced to look for alternate sources.
I do wish the best of luck to your PR team. And I hope that management is able to make the correct decisions going forward.
It’s the new defacto for everything unfortunately. It’s already on mobile (ios/android), now roku, apple tv is next.
1.42.1.10060
I had made a post earlier yesterday about relating my frustration as many of you have and after much patience and many resets later, I can at least view my media. Far too much time wasted. The interface isn’t really intuitive but after much playing around and not hitting the season thumbnail before the 1st episode of any season I was able to actually play my TV series media. The one thing missing from all my TV series media is the Theme music. Hopefully this gets addressed with the rest of the bugs. I was able to go into the Roku-Plex app’s settings and verify that theme music was enabled. It works fine at my server, and it always had worked before in the Roku-Plex App. Resets, uninstalls, power-downs and such have not repaired the problem. I even from my Plex server rescanned the library, cleaned bundles optimized my database and such, still no joy.
With that out of the way, there is a fair bit of customization you can do within the new app that makes navigating it much easier than what I initially thought, but that finally came after not hitting any of the cursed buttons that lock up the app. Selecting your favorites is actually key to making the experience less arduous. Hopefully the Plex team will add “help files” or/and create a video demonstrating all the new features and functionality so that we can all move ahead.
