I’ve decided to create a specific thread for this. Its something I mentioned a few times on another thread I started with the roku app being substandard when compared to how it was prior to the Aug '20 release last. I’ll do my best to keep my frustration in check as when I start talking about the UX changes in the app design of plex I tend to lose my will to live !
Anyhow, this issue… so plex developers please tell me what language the audio stream is for this show and episode ? Screenshot from Roku app:
You have no way to know until you start playing or you go and check what steams are available! It states 5.1 EAC3 and that is it, pretty useless really! Now lets look at the WebUX client:
You can clearly see the audio says English. You will also notice I have more than 1 audio for this show, see below – again from the WebUX client:
Why is this important. Well below are a few examples …
- This was ALWAYS there in the roku client until the update back in Aug removed it
Grrrr… - WebUX client has it so your not consistent with your clients.
- Some users want to watch in the native language Japanese with subtitles while others on my server would rather use English so knowing what will play is important.
- I have a large amount of content on my server with multiple languages.
The plex hate and frustration I get when I have started something to then realise its not the audio steam I want is not good.
I’ll add that the fact I have to come to this forum and beg plex to add something as basic as this, which was there previously until some designer either intentionally or by mistake by not considering there is more than one language in the world is not good.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE return the language identifier.
