Router Settings on Sabai router

Server Version#:1.9.7.4460-a39b25852
Player Version#:latest

I’m totally new at this and I can’t connect remotely. I have been using Plex internally for a long time. I finally got fiber and have high speed upload now, so I bought the Plex Pass. I can’t get it to work with my asus router flashed with Sabai OS. I’m hoping someone can tell me how to configure the settings in the router to get it to work? I also don’t know exactly what information I should provide to for someone to help me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not familiar with Sabai OS… so not sure if their VPN router approach is somehow impacting your Plex remote access experience.

Generally I prefer setting up my remote access through a port forward. This allows defining a custom public port and to establish a direct link for requests to that port to your PMS.

For Plex, the internal port needs to be tcp/32400.
After establishing this on your router, make sure to check and configure Manually specify public port with the public port you forward in your router.

If you run into issues…
Can you check if you can access your router’s public IP and the defined public port from outside your home network (e.g. using a service such as canyouseeme.org). This will help to identify if the issue is with your ISP/router configuration or within your home network/your PMS.

PS: if your PMS is really on version 1.9.7, you might run into some issues that have been fixed. This server version was released back in November 2017… that’s more then 2.5 years old

@tom80H thank you for your reply. Since I’m totally new to this I had no idea how to enable the UPnP or NAT-PMP. I had to go to side menu, Advanced, Firewall, UPnP, NAT-PMP . Once I enable that and specified a LAN, saved. Retried in Plex it connected. Really simple when you know where to fined the setting. With the Sabai OS on the router there are hundreds of settings, which is great for people with knowledge. Hope this helps anyone else with Sabai OS on their router.
