Hi, admitted luddite. Updated Synology 218+ to DSM 7.1-42661 Update 2. Can no longer access my Plex files - getting “Playback Error: The file associated with this item is not accessible by the server”. Any easy fix?
Check this. Often when adding new files, permissions get set (or reset) and prevent “PlexMediaServer” from reading the files anymore
This FAQ is the worst case but also applies to media files down inside existing shares.
Hi, thanks for that. I’ve done that, and still getting same error message.
May I see the server logs ZIP please ?
Thank you.

- Control Panel - Shared Folder
- For each of your shared folders: “Home Movies”, “Movies”, “music”, “TV Shows”
- EDIT the shared folder
- Permissions tab
- Change Local User to System Internal User
- Grant
PlexMediaServer
the appropriate level of permission - SAVE/OK the change
When all are complete, Scan Files
Success - thanks!!!
