Running Windows 10

Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862-0f739d462
Player Version#: on LG smart tv

I have had problems for awhile now and I’ve completely reinstalled windows 10 and still have same problems with plex. In the server help it says to go to settings and then set the directory’s where my media is but there’s no option

Not been able to stream now for 5 months , I’ve tried everything on the help page

Can’t find anywhere to attach aScreen shot !!

I’ve uninstalled all plex , I’ve gone through the Windows registry and removed all mention of plex

Downloaded plex again , installed it , when I got to my media it says please download plex media server , which I’ve done and installed

Now I go into plex , my media and yet again it’s asking me to download plex media server

Can someone help as this app used to be so simple to setup and watch videos on the plex app on my LG smart tv streamed from my pc

You need to access Plex through the bundled version of Plex Web to do the initial setup. Until this has been done, the server will not be accessible from the outside or different apps.

If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web – otherwise open http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web. This should bring up the setup wizard/dialog where you can do the basic configuration of your server… e.g. name it, link it to your Plex account and optionally create your first libraries.

Ok I will try that later today

Thanks much appreciated

Ok tried that and I get exactly the same

Settings - your media - add your media to plex

GET PLEX MEDIA SERVER

Are you accessing the local IP of your PMS from within the same subnet?
I know you mentioned that this is a new install and you deleted all the Plex registry entries… just double-checking off you really got all of them

I am trying to access my media files on same pc as plex is installed both plex and plex media server

Plex was completely deleted from system then I went into the registry and made sure there was no mention of plex anywhere

Then I reinstalled plex for Windows 10 64 bit version -?1.33.0.2444-a220eae4 then I tried to setup my media both with this app and by putting above address into browser and both ways tell me I have to then download plex media server , which I do , then try again and just keeps saying I need to install plex media server for windows 1.23.5.4862-Of739d462

This is only a player. You need to install the Plex Server

On plex web page it says it’s the plex media server

Have you a link to this other server ??

It’s on the download page: Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More
After installing this, it should report a version number of 1.23.5.4862 for the server and 4.59.2 for the local web app.

If it still says 1.33.0.2444 you have opened the wrong app.

Ok I’ve uninstalled plex and downloaded plex

1.23.5.4862 for the server and 4.61.2 for the local web app.(only one available )

Run the server and it does exactly the same

Which web browser are you using?
Any browser add-ins installed and active?
Do you use any DNS-based filters, like Pi-hole or any VPN software?

I’m running windows 10 pro on a amd FX-9590 cpu , 8Gbs men

Browser is maxthon v5.2.6.1000 no add ons

No dns filters
Vpn- private internet access

I don’t know that one, I assume it is kneecapping any scripts and apps. So try a regular one, like Chrome or Firefox.

Disable it completely for now.

Ok just tried on chromium and Microsoft edge and does exactly the same

Switched VPN off

I’ve even rebooted windows making sure VPN isn’t on and using edge , does exactly the same

Is your hosts file clean?

Some VPNs are still affecting network traffic, as long as they are installed.

Does your computer have a 100% working internet connection while you are trying this?

Yes host files are clean , will reconnect a 2nd clean pc I have tomorrow and I will try installing plex on that , this pc has no maxthon or VPN . Completely clean windows 10 install

Don’t forget your router. If it uses a bad DNS server, it can affect your whole network.
Try using 8.8.8.8 as DNS server for a while.
